“A (almost) hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2014

One of the most interesting "smaller" museums I've ever seen.
It is compact but everything from roman baths to XVI century is so interesting that you get out more plaeased than with the wonderful but too big Louvre.

Best things (to me): roman baths, pillars, kings heads made of stone, painted glass windows from XII and XIII centuries (that you can watch from a 20 cm distance !), armories, etc..

I think this place will be famous in the future.

“Rome through Medieval Paris”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014

If you're staying in the Latin Quarter, take a quarter-day to see this museum! For museum-pass holders with an hour or two to spare, this museum is unlike any other in Paris. You'll see the Girl and the Unicorn tapestry, missing heads from Notre Dame, hidden during the French revolution and only uncovered in the 1970's, plus a wonderful Roman bath c. 50BC, upon which the Hotel de Cluny was later built.

“Wonderful museum and gorgeous medieval buildings”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 August 2014

We have been here several times over the years and never tire of the place. The abbey buildings are fabulously restored...vast spaces that set off the exhibits which are beautifully displayed. The tapestries are very special..of course the lady and the unicorn.
Best is feeling uncrowded in such a lovely place.

“comprehensive museum of the middle ages”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2014

excellent collection of Middle Age art and artifacts, in particular the wonderful series of tapestries of the Lady and the Unicorn. There are also artifacts and excavations dating back to Roman times on the site. Well worth a visit, the museum is very conveniently and centrally located. Skip the crowds at the Louvre and go here instead!

“Surprising... Stunning”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2014 via mobile

This beautiful building houses a lovely museum with a range of exhibits from Roman to medieval. The frigidarium is a vaulted and extraordinary part of the Roman bath. The tapestries are gorgeous, and the Lady with the Unicorn series is here. If you don't fancy the museum, don't miss the medieval garden outside ...free access, great space to take a few minutes to rest!
