Owner description: Located in a 19th-century mansion, this museum's fabulous collection of Impressionist paintings ranks second only behind the Musée d'Orsay.

This museum has more Monets than any other. This collection was left to the museum by his son. If you like Monet, this is the place for you.

I visited for the first time on July 5- the day before the special Impressionism exhibit ended. Needless to say, the museum was very crowded and quite stuffy. However, I'm still glad that I made the trip. Wonderful Art!! The massive Monet paintings in the basement are alone worth a visit. I'd like to return when the museum is not crowded to have a more leisurely visit. There is pleasant park right outside the door- it would make a great place for a picnic lunch or people watching. Also, the tickets can be purchased ahead of time online. That was a good choice for me because of the special exhibit, but based on others' reviews it may not be necessary.

This had to be one of my favorite museums in the whole world. I love Monet and had just visited Giverny home of Monet and his famous water lilies so seeing so much of his work was incredible. There was no wait and it was not crowded. More people should visit this collection

Definitely not a tourist spot, it is closer to trocadero or the Eiffel Tower than the other tourist areas. The Monet's are in the basement (through the gift shop) of a lovely mansion . And they are gorgeous! It was well worth the taxi and entrance fee. We walked downhill back to the Seine area by small gardens and expensive apartments,.

I found this museum on a list of relatively unknown, but must-see, gems of Paris -- and they were right! You must see this, especially if you love Monet's work. Easy to get to via the Metro and a short walk (follow the signs on the streetlight posts). When I got there, there were no lines at all, and I went in July when there were very long lines at all of the other major attractions! About 60 Monet paintings donated by his son's estate in the 1960s. To see them first...after entry, stay left and head downstairs where the majority of the paintings are kept. Enjoy this first, then mosey through the rest afterward. They don't allow any photos at all, and are very strict about it. There is a nice book of all the paintings in the gift shop, for a reasonable price.
