“Must see”
Reviewed 28 August 2014

There was such a long line for this we almost didn't go in, but then we realized the line was moving fairly fast. So glad we waited. What really amazed me was that everyone was silent, as requested. To see so many people, crowded together, yet really respecting both the beauty of the church and the feelings of those that were worshiping there, it really restored my faith in people.
And it is Notre Dame after all! Incredible.

“Good for first time Paris tourists”
Reviewed 28 August 2014

No doubt the architecture is stunning. Just a gorgeous cathedrale all around. I would certainly put it on a must do list for any first/only time tourists. Be warned, there are lines to get Inside the cathedrale and lines to get on top of the cathedral. It adds up to alot of waiting and can really kill half a day rather quickly. The line to go inside is rather quick (as lines go) versus going up on the roof. You might want to skip going up if you're on a tight schedule. If it's your dream to play Quasimodo, then by all means, you should do so. I admit that it is neat but... I would think a few extra hours elsewhere might be time better spent.

“Exterior - wonderful; interior - average!”
Reviewed 28 August 2014

I tried 3 times to visit this cathedral and it was third time lucky; I arrived just after 10am and there was only a very small queue which moved inside very quickly!
The interior is impressive in a sombre kind of way but not really that much to see plus of course, you have the noisy crowds of visitors made worse by the attendants shouting "shhh!". It was also surprisingly warm inside so after a quick turn around the inside, I was quite happy to get out into the fresh air! Even though it was quick to get in, the ascent to the towers would have necessitated a considerable wait as only a small number if people is allowed up at any one time so I gave it a miss. By the way, no elevator so you have to climb several hundred stairs!
The outside of the building is wonderful and if you have binoculars, you can see many of the gargoyles very easily without having to climb the towers.
If the queues to get in are very long, I would give it a miss.
