“Lovely hotel, but pricey.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 October 2007

Beautiful hotel in fabulous location. Got a mini-suite on 2 levels and a great view over the enchanting courtyard.

The staff were wonderful and the honesty bar was a novel surprise!

The only downside is that, along with most Parisian hotels, is the cost of the rooms is very high, £200+ per night for a basic room.

Agree with many other reviews that this quiant hotel has an excellent location in the fashionably, stylish Marais (4e) district. Situated in a quiet park square, surrounded by historic apartments for wealthy aristrocrats, inaugurated in the early 1600's. Walking district to fabulous cafes, upscale boutiques and Notre Dame. The hotel is pricey at $500-600/ night. We chose the least expensive room which was a garden/court yard view on the first floor and included a hot breakfast buffet. This was perfectly adequate with a beautifully appointed bathroom. Hotel staff were pleasant and accomodating. This hotel is a good choice where you can romance the more local Parisian experience.

Our stay at this hotel was wonderful. It is a great option for a family as it is one of the few hotels I could find that would accommodate my me, my husband and my two children (ages 9 and 6 years old). We booked the room with a living room downstairs (coach made into a bed which the kids found comfortable) and our bedroom and bath were up the stairs.

Our room package for families included a great hot breakfast in the hotel the next morning and a river cruise on the Seine which was also a fun way to see the city.

The hotel is in the heart of the Marias district on the Place des Voges and has lots of cafes, and small shops very close by. It was also a short walk to the metro station which made getting around the city much easier.

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Although the hotel is expensive, I would highly recommend it again.

We spent three nights at the Pavillon de la Reine in late July and overall it was an enjoyable experience. We had a three room suite with a view of the courtyard that although not huge, more than filled our space needs. We had a well appointed bathroom with separate W.C. and first class toiletries that were replenished daily. I would be curious how large, or small, a regular room is. The staff was pleasant and the front desk folks went above and beyond just helpful a few times for us. The lounge, although not huge, always seemed to be a hub of activity with a drinks bar set up for guests. Since the hotel sits back off the square through a pleasant garden, it is extremely quiet for a hotel in Paris. The breakfast room is a bit grim, being in the bowels of the basement, but the staff is pleasant and the food good, although not overly-elaborate. The hotel’s location in the Place des Vosges is a bit off the tourist path, but the Bastille Metro stop (a three-line hub) is only a few minutes walk and cabs are fairly easy to find in the immediate neighborhood. The surround area is lively and not touristy at all, full of restaurants and upscale shopping mostly frequented by Parisians. That we feel is always a plus.

Although generally we had a pleasant experience, we most likely will stay in another arrondissement next visit to Paris since the experience of the surrounding area is as important to us as the accommodations when we travel.

Very overrated. Small room, 1950's TV stand, not fine antiques, and one soap for two people. Air conditioner had already been turned off for season. What a disappointment.

Last month we completed our 3rd stay at this wonderful small hotel and sadly it was our last visit until next Spring. We cannot speak highly enough about this most charming of hotels and the warmth of the welcome that we received again and again.

For discerning travellers this is a really excellent hotel and you will not be disappointed.

We don't often return to the same hotel as if we've had a wonderful first stay , returning and comparing stays can lead to disppointment and regret .....not a hint of that here ...truly it got better and better.

Our second visit initially coincided with our wedding anniversary but unfortunately we had to postpone for 3 weeks. The hotel remembered and to our surprise a complimentary bottle of champagne was delivered to the room. On our the third visit an excellent bottle of vin rouge (grand cru) was delivered , with the managers compliments. Really nice touches , quite unprompted and delivered with a smile.

Rely on the concierges for restaurant recomendations and bookings. There are so many really good places to eat within a 20 min stroll of the hotel that we would never have found.

Roll on next year.

My boyfriend took my to Paris this Easter to propose to me, and he chose this hotel on the basis of positive reviews. We were not dissapointed!

Despite the hotel being fully booked for Easter, they managed to upgrade our room, which was a nice touch. The rooms are not huge, but then this is Paris, and they can be a lot smaller! The rooms are well appointed and very clean. The staff were friendly, and the honesty bar was a great place to relax after a busy day in Paris.

This hotel is reasonably expensive for what you get, but as long as you accept that before you go, then you are sure to enjoy the experience.
