Too enormous to explore in one day. I think it should take at least a good 2 or 3 days to spend in this museum. There are simply too many exhibits to see. We only manage to spend 2 hours in the museum, only covered 2th floor and small part of 1st floor. Most important we said hi to Mona Lisa. A must visit destination particularly to those who love arts and history. I'm a big fan for both...

The Lourve is an amazing museum with a wealth of history. There's so much it cannot be done in a day. The best thing to do is to get a copy of the map and work out what you want to see and a route of how your going to do it. This way you'll use your time effectively. I arrived at the Louvre really early around 8:30am. There we no big queues and as I was under 25 I got in for free. So that's a great tip for any under 25s, otherwise the first Sunday of every month museums are free to visit in France. However there will be big crowds due to this. If your into history and art this is a must visit place. Amazing.

I don't know much about the art but it was very good to see the Mona lisa Venus de Milo and the great Sphinx. Well worth the visit but I do suggest purchasing the Paris pass

I have a BFA in fine arts and visited all of the museums in Paris. The Louvre is so big, the staff so unhelpful, the marble stairs are steep and long....was impossible to navigate, even with the GPS.
The crowds were overwhelming and astonishing rude. Save yourself---go visit L'Orangerie and the Orsay.....beautiful and curated with an discriminating and aesthetic heart.
If you do go, go first thing in the morning when you are fresh and well rested.
