We got the Paris Museum pass and was able to avoid the crazy ticket queue. Everybody makes a beeline for the Mona Lisa, but it is worth seeing all the other arts the Louvre has on offer. The frescos, Greek statues & Italian Art are just amazing.

Great museum, a real must-see. The building (and outside pyramid) is beautiful, gives great views from the inside, and of course they have the Mona Lisa on display. It only took about 10 min to get inside (we probably got lucky), and entree was free (European passport + under 26!). It's huge, with a great variety of art on display. However, the museum was extremely busy, and the set up in the individual rooms with artworks positioned quite close together and narrow corridors made that it was both hard to move through, and stop to examine a piece for a longer time without being pushed out of the way. It's also slighty difficult to navigate.

If you have no pre-booked ticket, arrive early - 8.15am - to avoid an enormous queue!
I highly recommend a guided tour (about 90 minutes) before taking on the mighty Louvre! These are easily organised although the ticket booths are hidden away - ask at any of the ticket offices or information desk.
With a British 'blue badge' (Disabled parking) you get free entry for that person plus a helper. Guided tour just charges for the helper (€10). Be prepared to show your badge at the entrance to each section.
The tour shows you the principle attractions and also helps you get your bearings. As you go round with your guide (iPods used with headphones so you can hear the guide clearly at all times) it is easy to spot your own points of interest, and you can return to these after the tour.
Our particular guide was very knowledgeable, happy to answer questions and helped us zip through crowds which would otherwise have slowed us down.
Both the tour and guide are a credit to this beautiful museum.

The Louvre is as everyone says beautiful , magnificent and grand. You would need days to go through it but we had taken a tour with a few hours to see the most important things (it also included skip the line which is vital). If you are in Paris this is a must.
