“Paris perfection”
Reviewed 29 March 2013

Cute little b&b on a side street in old Marais. Beautiful, richly decorated rooms and bathrooms. Not too small by Parisian standards.

Pre dinner drinks are served in the lounge.

Great base for exploring Le Marais and Paris.

Room Tip: Go for the larger deluxe rooms

i would just like to say this is a lovers hotel but i have to write at least 200 words so we could also say this place seems to be forgotten by Paris, it is intimate, luxorius, calm and in one of the oldest areas of paris, the Marais...

We were lucky to find a room here last minute. The rooms are pretty small, but many places are in Paris...this area dates from the mid 13th century....the streets are little. The hotel has a Middle-Eastern theme, dark and moody. The bath in our room was amazing, I took a hot bath with the window open onto the Marais, what more can you ask for in Paris, that and walking distance to great restaurants, bars, the Metro, etc. The staff were courteous and helpful, guarding our bags for a day before we could check in properly.

Stayed at this hotel for my honeymoon some years ago. Little sister hotel of Hotel Costes. Enjoyed it then, so I knew the rooms were small - but it's Paris. Stayed 3 nights this time. Single rooms hardly have space to put down a suitcase so just be prepared for that. Almost the same with doubles. The room opened onto rear of hotel through french doors for fresh air because the air-conditioning is pretty poor. Quality of room fit-outs is great - very stylish and clean. Bathrooms really nice. Location is brilliant - middle of Marais, restaurants everywhere - a quick walk across Rue de Rivoli to Seine and close to the underground. Breakfast in the hotel is in the basement - quite nice but maybe try somewhere more scenic. Staff can be a little aloof but are quite helpful.

Room Tip: Buy a Hotel Costes candle in the foyer (the black one). Heavenly smell.

I have to preface this review with the fact that I lived on Rue Bourg Tibourg when I was stationed in France, so I might be a bit biased in my review. I love the hotel Bourg Tibourg - the hotel is situated in the best location in Paris - the center of le Marais. Down the street you have Mariage Freres tea room, and some really cool cafes.
I understand that people have written that the rooms could be bigger. But this is Paris. And for the value that the hotel Bourg Tibourg is offering, I think that room size is not a big issue.
I have recommended many of my friends stay here and none have been disappointed.

You stay here for the location. Right in the heart of the Marais, a minute from the hotel de ville, ten minutes from Notre Dame and the Place des Vosges, thirty seconds from BHV - the Bergdorf Goodman of Paris.

Pros - Location. 30 minutes from Orly airport by cab. Literally hundreds of fun restaurants and cafes to meet every budget within a minutes walk. Rooms small and best for solitary travellers. If you are going with your parrtner then probably best to aim for a suite or at the very least a deluxe room which are slighly larger.Decorated with good if somewhat fussy taste.

Cons - Rooms are small, some very small. Air conditioning so so. Bathrooms cramped. Low level lighting throughout the hotel set somewhere between dark and gloomy - Don't expect to be able to sit in your room and read. Lounge area downstairs has a sofa and two chairs and can become crowded with guests waiting to check in or out. Some of the staff have that slightly bored air that you find in smaller Parisian hotels. They all, when pushed, speak good English.

Conclusion : Fabulous location - much frequented by fashion models. Access to restaurants , shops and tourist sites outstanding. Rooms would disappoint many - their small size more than outranking the attractive decor - there again we spent most of our time exploring the neighbourhood. €300 a night for a deluxe room in high season fully priced for what we got. Singles - and they are singles - cheaper. Would be an ideal , safe, place for women travelling alone for business or leisure. This super chic Paris arrondisement doesn't have many hotel - this is probably the bst in the 4eme. Try the Pavillon de la Reine on the Place des Vosges in the neighbouring 3eme as an alternative if room size and quiet are important to you.

Room Tip: Aim for a suite or a deluxe room on a higher floor. If noise bothers you ask for one away from the R...

Do you know how people often times compare precious interiors to a jewel box? Well, The Hotel Bourg Tibourg is like a ring box - smaller, but with contents just as lovely. It's warm, rich, and a little magical here, but it is VERY small. The hotel is located inside of a centuries-old structure where modernization has only allowed for the installation of an elevator that can only fit one plus one suitcase, and stairways/hallways are so narrow that you'd better rethink that pain au chocolate by your second day here in Paris. Nevertheless, the hotel is utterly charming and exactly what you would except from a Costes hotel designed by famed Jacques Garcia. The rooms are quite small here but again, well decorated, with every centimeter of space attended to and made useful. What's truly amazing though are the beds - TEMPURPEDIC memory foam mattresses are HEAVENLY! Bathrooms are luxe and sexy, but that ambience comes at the cost of proper task lighting. Location is prime and smack dab in the center of shopping mecca and gay village Marais.
