“Amazing Painting”

Inside the dome here is a wonderful fresco. The location also gives you the opportunity to view Napeleon's tomb and the sculpture hanging above it (which I find a little bizarre)

“Worth it for Napoleon's tomb and the golden dome”
Reviewed 3 January 2014

We were advised to visit by a tour guide on the Eiffel Tower so decided to follow his advice. Was great to see Napoleon's tomb and see a bit if French Military history. Learnt quite a bit, though didn't spend too long there. Some good photograph opportunities ad building is fascinating!

“Napoleon's Tomb - Definitely worth your time”
Reviewed 8 December 2013

Visiting this had never been a priority on other trips and I was amazed by how impressive this landmark was on both the interior and exterior. If one doesn't have time to see Versailles, for example, this might be a good alternative (though, of course, both are quite different). The military museum is expansive and very well done, but more for history buffs in my opinion. This can be done in a quick visit and the nearby neighborhood is also a great part of Paris to see.

“The Dome Church”
Reviewed 5 October 2013

It is a place of interesting history, the place of rest for Napoleon's ashes and a home of a military museum. It is a photographer's paradise for all of the intricate architecture and history.

“Exceptional & Touching Tributes to the Dead”
Reviewed 21 January 2013

The Eglise du Dome is the golden domed church that houses Napoleon’s tomb and sits at the back of Les Invalides. This is a beautiful church and a must-visit because of Napoleon’s tomb, at the very least. The tomb is directly beneath the golden dome and can be viewed from the above ground level, as well as visited on its own lower floor. The tomb is surprisingly simple in its wooden starkness yet commanding in that very same simplicity—as if to say that true power needs no frills, just straightforward confidence and grand presence. With this design, Napoleon’s tomb feels like the perfect match for the man inside of it who was famously small in physique yet so mighty in ability. And, while I am not French and I have no true admiration for Napoleon, I can’t help but feel a sense of veneration at his tomb. There are also some amazingly powerful and touching military tombs in the other chapels of the church that honors the spirit of soldiers in such a way that always leaves me with a mix of pride and humility. For this reason, I highly recommend a visit to the Eglise du Dome since the design of this entire space is the ultimate experience of paying honor and respect to the dead.
