We attended the Cabaret Georges Brassens show at the Studio-Théâtre (Galerie du Carrousel du Louvre - 99 rue de Rivoli--not the main theater; Studio-Théâtre is in a mall, which features in inverted pyramid and access to the Louvre). We had discovered Brassens in the course of planning our trip. We purchased tickets in advance via La Comedie Francaise website. The website is in French but still follows the expected online retail protocol; google translate is very helpful. I handed the printout, confirming our reservation, to the person at the ticket counter, and we were given our tickets without any problem. This performance was simply spectacular--expanding Brassens' works with insightful instrumentation, as well as intricate vocal performances. While we were not proficient enough in French to understand all of the nuances, the performers were skilled at physical interpretation as well. The theater seating was general admission, probably in the 300-500 seat range. Quite an intimate setting. The staging quite minimalist, with various stacks of pallets serving as the staging for the singers. This was not a crowd of tourists; in fact we sat next to a put-upon husband who said he was too tired to sit with his wife, who had decided to in another row--he seemed to be straight out of one of Brassens' songs!
