Owner description: The city's largest public square has a lengthy history as well - it served as the site of the guillotine that was used to execute Louis XVI, Marie-Antoinette, Robespierre and many others during the French Revolution.

Beside the regular monument, there's nothing to see.
It's not bad but you expect more when you hear about it.

“Beautiful By Night!”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Went on a city nightlife tour and drove past this square. So much history to take in and was worth the drive around at night. The city of Paris glows when you travel here. Also worth the visit during the day!

“It is not the square by itself...is the history behind the square.”
Reviewed 29 July 2014 via mobile

Huge square filled with car traffic, it is a good place to take some pictures with the Eiffel tower as a background..but before going in there you must known what happened here in the 1700's and you will feel how amazing is that place and how full of history has this square. Nothing to envy Trafalgar or Madison Square.

“So much history!”
Reviewed 27 July 2014

This is quite an imposing square! So much to see, so many tourists and the traffic, but this is a must do in Paris! Place de la Concorde has so much history, like most places in Paris, but this is where during the last part of the "Reign of Terror", in the summer of 1794, when in a single month more than 1,300 people were executed. Not many squares have that history!

Place de la Concorde is also a great starting point if you want to walk les Champs-Élisées.
