“Old Hotel under the Hyatt umbrella”
Reviewed 31 December 2013

After paying quite an amount of money, we expected a more grandiose Hotel, however, you can tell this is an old Hotel. There are showers in the rooms, there is only one tv about 19" to 21" in size.
The concierge was great to us, with one down on count for a restaurant suggestion, Eric and Cedric were phenomenal and always very eager to help.
The room service personnel was excellent, even with the language barrier…Thanks!
The hotel is close to everything imaginable, if you are the walking kind like we are. There is almost no need for a taxi. I like walking the cities I go to and find it the best way to know them and yes, sometimes you need to take a tour, as you cannot know everything. The Hotel lights up at night in a reddish purplish color and it looks fantastic. Our room gave the Louvre museum view and enjoyed people watching, while taking a break to go out again. The are no balcony spaces to seat outside to enjoy the view comfortably, you have to make shift like I did to seat and enjoy a glass or two of wine and to enjoy somewhat the available view.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the front of the Hotel, it may give a better view.

Pros--The staff were very nice and the location is conveniently located next to the Louvre Museum. There's a taxi stand nearby and a metro stop. Those are the only positives for which I gave 2-stars.

Cons--I wish I had not purchased the room rate with breakfast included. The breakfast buffet (30 euros per person) was awful: canned fruit and watered down coffee. The interior hallways needed updating. We had 2 rooms (one room with twin beds for teenagers and one room with a king bed for parents). Both rooms had cheap carpet and damaged furniture. Our bathroom needed renovating. The hot water was inconsistent and we could never get it hot enough. The hot water pipe made a loud noise when it was turned on. There is only one chair and no dresser.

The teenagers' room was too hot and they had to open the window, but it was raining! The HVAC did not work well.

Although the bedroom has soundproof windows, the bathroom did not have these windows. So the traffic noise came through the bathroom into our bedroom unless we closed the bathroom door.

This is NOT a 5-star hotel. This is not even close to the Four Seasons George V or the Le Meurice. The Hotel du Louvre rooms were very small (we had no room to unpack our luggage) and the rooms were in desperate need of renovation. (We paid almost $500 per night per room). The common areas needed renovating. The room rate and restaurant/bar food was poor quality and very expensive, so don't waste your money. I'd never stay here again and this is my fourth visit to Paris so I've stayed at better hotels during my prior visits to this beautiful city.

I am staying in this hotel right now. The staff is superb, everyone from the concierge staff to the wait staff to housekeeping. Very friendly and eager to help. I was not prepared for the room to be QUITE so small. I managed to stash 2 empty suitcases in the bathroom (there is space due to no bidet). Otherwise I am not sure we would have managed. So mall we cannot open the window (door) as there is only about 6 inches to the bed. Which us a shame since it has been quite warm and airless. The location cannot be beat (beware from 6 January through May this metro station will be closed however!), the service is excellent. I would recommend with a warning regarding room size only. The breakfast buffet is superb as well!

Stayed here Nov 28 - 31st. A very good location, clean but outdated and very tired rooms, good food spoiled by a unwelcoming, hardly smiling restaurant manager and definitely over-priced.

Room is kept clean, turn-down service is standard. however, it is tired, old carpet, wood need polish as its full of scratches, room door (inner) is very old.

Breakfast is limited variety but good quality and was enough for me anyway.

Service is surely an issue here. It is very obvious that those who are good, service oriented staff, are good because of personal traits, like being hospitable and decent by nature and not by standard. As there are others, not minority, who would hardly smile, look you in the eye when you talk to them or even care. Such people are in the main restaurant "French origin restaurant supervisor", concierge and reception. Once i reported to concierge the elevator is not working and i was going up to my room. The man behind the counter just gave me the look and silence. As i was in a hurry, i had to use the stairs and let it be!

In short. It is far from luxury and friendly service. a noticeable difference in service between those native french and anyone else, but good location and generally clean, I assume you can get this in Paris for a lot cheaper.

Room Tip: A lower floor, for you might need to climb the stairs

We stayed here last year too! The location of this hotel is fabulous. The hotel is in walking distance to many of Paris' attractions plus the Metro is right there. The concierge was extremely helpful. The rooms are very nice but they could use some upgrading. We believe that this is planned now that Hyatt bought the property. Next time we are in Paris, we will stay here again.

Great location for this hotel next to Louvre museum, close to Opéra, Place Vendôme and other typical tourist attractions. Also interesting restaurant and hotel bar scene around (try "Très Honoré"). Decided to go there because of membership with Hyatt Group. Overall experience was just average. Rooms are OK and clean. WiFi is slow; TV and movie offer good. Hotel has a traditional Paris flair with bar and restaurant in Brasserie style. It all feels like Paris, unfortunately the service as well. As it has been completely absent. In three days, except one lady at reception, we received no "Hello", "Good morning", "Have a nice day" or even a smile. Concierge service has been worst. Even staff on the different floors you passed by: eyes on the floor. No Hyatt style. Need some serious coaching!!

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon early Dec 2013, it is 2 minutes walk to the Louvre Museum and Jardin des Tuileres, the Metro is few steps away from the door, bank, ice cream shop, restaurants and grocery store are all walking distance from the hotel. The staffs are all very helpful and friendly. The hotel room was beautiful and very cozy. I absolutely recommend this hotel.
