I really wanted to see this Opera house as it's where Gaston Leroux set Phantom of the Opera and it did not disappoint. The building is decorated everywhere you look. It's a fascinating peek into the history of high society life in Paris.

Stunningly beautiful!!! My 7 year old daughter is fascinated with the ballerina animation Leap, so duping our trip to Paris she to go visit the opera house. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I hope to return and see a show here next time we visit Paris. The waiting line was not so bad. I can’t remember what we paid for our tickets, but we purchased them on site. You can save time by buying them in advance.

We were very disappointed with our visit to the Palais Garnier museum a couple of years ago, but this time we reserved a perfornance. The house is certainly the grandest we've ever been to, and that includes Vienna. Over the top. Gilding everywhere. Extravagant chandeliers, plus the Chagall ceiling. Prices are really extremely reasonable. We sat in the front row of a third-tier box at 70 euros per seat. Far less than, for example, Barcelona or Milan, for perfect sightlines. In terms of choosing seats, I would not do anything other than the first row in the boxes, as you can't see much from the seats behind. Also one wants to choose a more central box than one to the side, because if you're too far to the side, you can only see half the stage. The seats in the boxes are good because you can move them: for me, that afforded the luxury of leg room. Dress? Between formal and casual. No tails or tuxedos or evening gowns. Many suits and jackets for both men and women, and nice dresses for women, but also much casual wear: sweaters and slacks, pantsuits, and the like. One or two guys in jeans. The very complete program was 12 euros. The programs are hawked inside in a loud voice as if at a football stadium, which is slightly jarring, though the guys selling them are fun: "Even the photos are in English" one said to us. A memorable evening at the opera.

Didn’t know about this place until we came across it.

Huge building and very beautiful.

Love this huge roman type of building and this one really impressed me.

Golden statues on the top and very impressive overall.

Take the tour. Self guided tours available, but the inside story is worth hearing. Our guide was a former dancer. Great value.
