Before visiting read about this church. Use metro or buses 30, 31, 80, or 85 that will take you to the bottom of the hill, or walk around 45 minutes from Champs de Ellisee. At the end of your walk there are lots of stairs that will lead you to this great white stone church on the hill overloking Paris. Inside a church is very nice with beautiful mosaics. I've heard that people of all confesions go there to pray for love. Once in church make your wish if you beleive it. Once you finish visiting church, go around and visit Montmartre art galeries, painters, restaurants, gift shops.

The view is good and worth it once.Getting here is a chore unless you take a taxi, then it is overcrowded on the steps and often there is a line to get in. This is not a truly significant church in terms of architecture, and its eclectic interior reflects a brief time when such hugely expensive churches were built with pseudo-Byzantine influence inside (see Lyon, and St. Petersburg for other examples.) The town behind the church could be interesting if you did not have to navigate narrow streets filled with a river of tourists.Expect to pay a premium in the cafes and shops up there, and too much for the art being painted.

Like the Eiffel Tower and the Arch de Triomphe, Sacre Coeur is a symbol of Paris, standing high on a bluff overlooking this city. Like the other two, it is far more impressive from a long view, with an interior, although pretty, that cannot compare with most of the city's spectacular churches. It's not really that old, relatively speaking...only built in the late 1800s. What I love most about this location is the view of the city looking down from the front steps. This is the reason to come here, as well as to explore the surrounding area of Montmarte. Browsing the interior shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes of your time. In summary: The attraction here is not so much this church as it is the amazing view and the quaint (but very crowded) area. And make sure you eat elsewhere because the restaurants near Sacre Coeur are over-priced and jam packed with tourists.

We went here on a Sunday on our visit to Paris, it was absolutely packed with tourists and locals. I don't know whether this is usual or it was due to the food and wine market in the streets next to the Sacre Coeur. We enjoyed a glass of wine looking over the view of Paris you get from the steps of the Basilica. Street entertainers were also in full force around the Basilica.
I would recommend the experience if you have time to fit it into your itinerary.

t's worthy going up to the basilique by stairs & i ally enjoyed our visit to Sacre Coeur.because
Getting there you will have chance to see beautiful view from Paris.

if you are not fit or you have young children don't do this. It directed us via small streets with LOTS of stairs. you can use funicular.
