“Excellent Museum”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

This museum is very easy to get to on the metro and can easily fit into anyone's hectic Paris schedule! This was one of my wife and I's favourite museums in Paris and we saw A LOT of museums. We walked straight in and received a free audio guide so we could hear a tune from all the instruments. There were also two performers showcasing the instruments on hand.
The number of instruments on display was impressive and I loved the relaxed atmosphere of the place.

“Outstanding museum! Very interesting.”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

Much better than I expected. Located in a charming park. Good collection. Very good videos on musical topics. Best of all, there is a live musician to play, demonstrate and answer questions (the first day I went, it was a hurdy gurdy player. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurdy_gurdy). The second time I went, there was a clarinet player, followed by a French horn player. Overall, an outstanding museum. One of the best I have ever visited.

“Very interesting!”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

This was an unexpected little gem for us. We had no idea that such a place existed, and it was really interesting to see (and hear!) all of the old instruments (up through early electronica). The building itself was also interesting. If you want to see something unique and get away from the crowds, this is a great place to go.

“Unique instruments and live performances.”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

Do not be discouraged by the Metro map as this place is in the north of Paris in the Cité de la Musique. It's not as far as it looks.
Once you get there, you will be amazed by the variety of instruments and the sheer size of the place. On the day we were there, there was a guitarist explaining about chord loops and demonstrating musical improv. I enjoyed every minute. There are restaurants nearby with both French Brasserie food and ethnic foods. Spend the day.

“manage your expectations”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

we went for the 'great black music' exhibition, to be frank at 9 euro i was expecting something more than a ipod playlist and some pictures and text glued to the wall, uninspiring visuals, poorly laid out, unimaginative and just a buffet of music with little red thread to bind them.

Really they could have pushed the boat out a little more for the entry price
