This is a hidden gem. So few people visit. We had the museum almost to ourselves. They give you an audioguide, and you can hear many of the instruments live in concert. Their collection is huge and impressive. These instruments are still used by the Paris Philharmonic for their concerts, so the instruments are in good condition. It is a bit tricky find level 5, but there instruments from other parts of the world are displayed, and it is quite excellent.

This music museum is in the immense Parc de la Villette and just one building
farther is a concert hall. This is a great museum if you are interested in music.
There is much more to see in the parc not connected to music.

Great museum for any music lover. The museum has the history of the musical instruments, how they were introduced not only to Paris but in Europe in general. The price of admission includes an audioguide however some the main displays are only in French. They have a huge collection of old instruments including some really interesting pianos. Many of the historic pieces have an English explanation of its history. The museum end with a collection of world instruments. There are also a history of music theatres and performance houses. This is a definite place to any music lover.

You can learn about music styles and instruments here at this modern museum at the outer edge of the city. It's worth the effort to come out here. Look for some terrific special expos.

We have been to a few other music museums, but this is one of the best. There is a vast collection of instruments and very well curated with videos on development of Western music from the 17th to 20th centuries that synchronizes with the audio guide. As we were there on Saturday, the museum also had a performance and talk on the cello and pipe instruments.
