If you are thinking of exploring the delights of the rue Mouffetard in Paris then you could do worse than start in this church at the bottom of the hill near Les Gobelins. Its late Gothic nave fits remarkably well with those marvellous and unusual Doric clumns of the remodelled eighteenth century choir.

At the very bottom of the lengthy Rue Moufetard, Saint Medard is an attractive mixture of late gothic and early classical styles which surprising work beautifully together. It's not huge, but it feels like a much loved neighbourhood church, and so has a quality of the 'real Paris' about it.
A peaceful place for pause after working your way down the busy Rue Moufetard and it's good to sit here and contemplate for a while.
