“Excellent service, charming rooms, "local" feel”
Reviewed 21 May 2011

We LOVED this hotel. We came for our honeymoon and, after mentioning such in an email once, we found in our room a gift and an adorable congratulatory card from the owners. Unlike some of the "ritzy-er" hotels that look like fancy hotels you'd find anywhere else, New Orient definitely makes you feel like you're in Paris. True, the rooms are small, but it's Paris--most rooms are small. The size was fine for the two of us. The balconies--complete with a little table and pretty flowers-- are beautiful and the rooms are quaint. The service is exceptional. The location is a good 15 minute walk to l'Arc de Triomphe and a 25-30 minute walk to Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower, and others. At first I thought I'd mind this, but we really enjoyed coming back to a non-touristy place to rest. Also the Europe Metro stop is two blocks away--which we used quite a bit. The neighborhood is fabulous--we walked through an amazing farmers' market today on Rue de Levis. So many wonderful boulangeries, patisseries, bistros, etc. right down the street with all of the atmosphere and the authentic feel and without the crazy Paris traffic noise and millions of lost tourists. Bottom line: if you want to feel like a local but still get exceptional value and a beautiful place to stay, New Orient is the spot.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony.

This charming hotel with exceptionally friendly and helpful staff (esp. Ms Mc Carthy) is situated in a quiet and safe (compared to other parts of Paris) residential quarter, only some five minutes from the nearest metro (Villiers). Gare St. Lazare was only a ten min. walk away, which makes this hotel an excellent base for exploring the right bank on foot. The left bank is easilly reached by metro, or - which seemed more convenient to us - by bus links n 21 and 27.
The hotel and its rooms are spotless clean and have a lot of atmosphere. We stayed in one of the rooms on the top floor - it was rather small but we stayed minimum time there. The size of the room was fully compensated by our two balconies with fabulous views over the street - it was probably the most romantic place we´ve ever slept in.
It is obvious that this hotel is very well looked after and that its owners really love their place.
We will be back. Soon.

My daughter and I stayed here last month. This hotel is pretty much as others have described it on trip advisor. Very small rooms but super friendly owners who were extremely helpful and speak several languages. The hotel is in a pretty good location near plenty of good restaurants-especially one, one block down. I would go back again. I think our room rate was $130 euros without breakfast which at the dollar right now is a little less than $200 a night. Our room was small with a view of other buildings but "hey" we were just sleeping there. I thought the beds although small were very comfortable. The room is small so be sure not to bring large luggage. And my daughter and I are small people so the size of the room not a big deal for us. But again, I cannot reiterate the friendliness of the owners and the staff.

Very welcoming and lovely staff, will definately be back,

Excellent location, good restaurants nearby e.g. La Dome. great supermarche across the street, which also has a great off license and lovely pattiserie right beside hotel.

We will be back, highly recommend this hotel, pristine and such lovely staff. A true gem we found after much research.

Thank you for a great base in Paris.

Around 6pm each day, you see locals carrying bottles of wine and fresh baguettes home for dinner. This hotel is super Parisian from its beautiful details and balconies looking at Parisian architecture. The owners and staff are truly lovely and exceptionally helpful. We highly recommend this spot, but I would just caution that my husband felt strongly that the beds need updating. Indeed, our bed was small (a U.S. double) and a tad lumpy. But the details are gorgeous and the bathroom modern and definitely worth the cost of the room. In fact, it's a bargain for Paris. It's not located in the heart of anything touristy, but is about a 20 minute walk to some main attractions and the heart of the city. If you're not into walking, there's a super convenient metro just two blocks away and you can get anywhere in 10-15 minutes. Even though it's not a super touristy area, it's VERY convenient. And right across the street is a small grocery store (marche--where giant bottles of water are less than 50 cents (.23E). Highly recommend this hotel and if my husband and I go back to Paris, we'd definitely stay here again!

This was WONDERFUL find in Paris!! Best kept secret!! It was such a charming hotel. It's run by a family who is very friendly and greets you each time you enter&leave the hotel. it has a cute spiral staircase to the top, as well as a small elevator. The room was spacious for European standards. It was maybe a 3 minute walk to the "Villiers" metro station and it was pretty easy to get around the city by metro. There is a restaurant and bakery located within a 2 minute walk of the hotel for quick meals, breakfast, snacks, etc. The hotel also offers room service. My mom and I usually ordered a tray of coffee and tea to the room each morning and it was about 4-5 euro...not too bad!! It was clean and very nicely decorated...very beautiful and very Paris!! I liked that it was a local place too....very quiet and in a quiet, safe, neighborhood....not touristy either! I highly recommend it! I booked through the hotel's website.

Spent three nights at the New Orient with my wife and three children. The "family room" accomodated 4 of us with our 19 year old occupying a single room one floor below.

The service was great and although they were "undergoing renovations" (carpet and painting), the owners went out of their way to ensure we were not inconvenienced in any way.

I reccomend this hotel to anyone traveling to Paris, great location (between Metro stops), great neighborhood and good value.
