“First Paris Trip”
Reviewed 19 January 2013

This was the best value I found on Trip Advisor, so gave it a try. I can't compare to other Paris hotels, but based on comments from others, I think this was a good deal.
Note - The stairs are narrow and the elevator stops between floors (middle of the stairs). This may be a factor for those not wanting stairs.

The rooms are "cozy", code for small. The bed is 6 foot long, so those of us 6+foot tall will have their feet hanging off. The shower is a snug fit - make sure to point the showerhead into the corner to limit spray onto the bathroom floor.
We had a very small balcony - great in January for storing drinks, etc. to keep them cold. Not much of a view.

The desk staff was very helpful. They printed some tour tickets for me. They also went out of their way to make sure we got to the airport on time - let them know 24hrs in advance before you depart so they can help.

A few blocks from the Metro, which then gets you anywhere. Also lots of restaurants and bakeries around the Metro Stop. There is a little market just across the street from the Hotel.

We did not do the breakfast, instead went and got fresh items from the local bakeries and fruit from the market.

This hotel is really good, placed in an area well connected to the subway stations. The reception staff is friendly and always smiling, gave us restaurant recommendations and tips on the city. The room was not very spacious but very nice and clean with free wi-fi. The breakfast is good. We found a very friendly hotel in this romantic city. Highly recommended

Deeply impressed by the private-owned cute hotel. The decor brand-new, comfy bed, generous breakfast, and above all, really great service that is rarely mentioned in Paris. From hotel owners to staffs, they showed great attention to your needs.

Besides, the hotel sent small gifts like Chocolates to us when we mentioned we are on honeymoon to Paris.

We will choose this hotel again if we visit Paris next time.

Room Tip: We don't choose balcony room as it is cold in winter. But it seems it is a good option during mi...

The New Orient Hotel was exactly what I was hoping for when choosing a hotel for my Christmas holiday vacation in Paris. Located in the 8e Arrondissement and within a short walking distance from several Metro stations, markets, coffee shops, restaurants and department stores. The hotel was also a stone’s throw from the Parc Monceau (ideal for morning jogs and strolls) and a short distance from the famed Opera Garnier. Despite its convenient location, The New Orient still manages to feel tucked away and off the beaten path – which is a huge boon to anyone looking to find a little peace and quiet in the midst of the bustling city.

The hotel has an adorable lobby and breakfast nook, oozing warmth and hospitality and decorated in traditional French style. Breakfast is an additional 8-12 Euro per day, and includes a selection of pastries, breads, jams, cereals, yogurt, as well as coffee, tea and juice. The food was good, but frankly, for the money you can do better elsewhere.

The rooms were small but very clean and well appointed, with comfortable beds and free Wi-Fi. The service was fantastic – which comes as no surprise since the hotel recently picked up a Trip Advisor award for Best Service – we were given spot-on dining and sightseeing recommendations whenever we consulted the front desk for advice.

For the location, service and cozy quarters, the price at The New Orient Hotel can’t be beat – rooms go from 85-185 Euro/night, a relative steal in pricey Paris.

We choose the New Orient Hotel based on the reviews on Trip Advisor and were not disappointed. This is a small friendly family run hotel in a quiet, safe and convenient part of Paris, only 15 minutes walk to the Place de Clichy in Montmartre and approximately 20 minutes walk down to Galeries Lafayette on the Boulevard Haussmann. This is Paris, so walking is the way to see it, however the hotel is also serviced by two Metro lines at either end of the street and with easy access to others. The owners and the staff where all very helpful and knowledgable. Their advice on getting around Paris and recommendations for restaurants in the area was invaluable.

We were a family of four including two teenage girls, so needed two rooms. One of our daughters was leaving us mid way through the trip so we requested a downgrade for one of the rooms which wasn't a problem at all. Like most hotels in Paris the rooms here are small but are still a good size, especially the twin our girls shared. Both rooms were kept clean and maintained well.

Our biggest mistake here was not taking breakfast at the hotel every day. At the time of writing a continental breakfast costs 8 Euro. This included juice, coffee and a selection of breads and pastries with butter and jam. We only ate there twice but wished we had done so more often as this was not only value for money but a great start to the morning and very filling.

This is a lovely hotel that welcomes its guests. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and would definitely recommend it to other travellers. We noticed in the lobby that the hotel had been awarded a "2012 Travellers Choice Trip Advisor" award, what more can I say.

Lovely little 2 star hotel with loads of Parisian character. Small rooms but impeccably clean and beautifully decorated. Breakfast downstairs is tasty but basic. Convenient (3 minutes) to local metro (Europe or Villiers) and local amenities; post office nearby, laundry and supermarket across the road, delicious restaurants/cafes/brasseries only a few minutes walk away. Helpful, friendly and professional staff and room easily accessed by a lift. Loved it and would definitely return!

I booked this hotel for my brother, mother and myself, staying in the family room with 2 double beds. Neither had any idea of what the hotel would be like until we arrived but they were very impressed. My Mum even went so far as to call this one of the best hotels of our 6 week trip- she simply loved it! The staff were very welcoming and friendly, helping to bring our suitcases up the narrow staircase and always gretting us with a bonjour or bonsoir. The room was nicely decorated and we had French windows which opened up onto a balconette. There weren't that many English choices on TV, well not that we could find but that didn't worry us- we watched a movie we had already seen in French, no longer understanding what was said but knowing what was happening. The location was good- we could catch the RER and Metro from St Lazare, Europe or Villiers, and easily reached Versailles, the Eiffel Tower, the Arc De Triomphe and Disneyland Paris from these stops with few changes. There was a bakery up the street for a croissant in the morning and whilst the supermarket opposite was a bit limited there are more options around St Lazare. We had a fantastic 3 nights here and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others or come back.
