“Nice Hotel, so-so location”
Reviewed 2 April 2014

The hotel itself was very nice. The owners were very accommodating, the room was fine and breakfast was great.

The only thing we didn't enjoy was the location. It was in an area that doesn't offer much to the tourist. However, two metro stops were not far too away.

Previously, we've stayed in the 5th arrondissement and the Trocadero area, and we liked those locations better.

My friend and I only stayed two nights to celebrate her 50th birthday, but I could have stayed longer. Staff were really friendly and happy to help. The room was small but spotlessly clean and had all the amenities. The location, whilst not central, was within walking distance of everything we wanted to see and we felt very safe at night. Not sure why it would only warrant 2 stars given our experience

This was my second visit to New Orient Hotel. Arrived at hotel at 11:30am and was able to check in and go to my room straight away. Very friendly staff, was always greeted when arriving or leaving the hotel and by housekeeping when I passed them in the halls.

My single room was small but a perfect size for 1 person and very comfortable. Full opening windows in both the bedroom and bathroom and really good shower pressure with a shower head that can change from regular to massage pressure. Free wifi in the room with good connection speeds and air conditioning and a heater in the room as well.

Perfect location, 2 blocks away from Europe metro which can connect you to Opera (for RoissyBus to/from CDG Airport) or to Gare du Nord for the Eurostar. There are umbrellas in the lobby to use if it is raining outside.

Will definitely be back!

Room Tip: If you have a lot of luggage then request a room on the lower floors as the staircase is steep and t...

We stayed 3 nights in a family trip in Paris and this hotel is a very nice place to stay. It is close to Europa and Villiers metro stops, and it is 20-minute walk to Opera Garnier. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well presented. We even wonder why it is a 2-star hotel, because the premises and the services are much better than most Paris 3-star hotels. Been in Paris several times before, probably this is the only hotel I will come back on future stays at the City. The owners were very kind to us. Breakfast is served for 9€, and it is good with an offer of bread, croissant and pain au chocolat, also juice and coffee/tea. The street is very quiet at night, our room was a second-floor (american floor numbers) facing the street and we have no problems with any noise. Bathroom spotlessly cleans. In conclusion it is a great hotel to stay in Paris for a moderate budget. It is well located, comfortable, clean, and with great staff.

Great area, not too many tourists. Number 2 and 3 Metro lines less than 5 minutes away. Hotel to Arc de triomphe on the number 2 Metro approx 10 minutes. Bakery less than 1 minute away. Grocery store across the street (currently getting a face lift - should be re-opened soon). Wine store 2 blocks away. Great local restaurants. Check out The Publisher - say hi to "Stef". Get the fish and chips - yes fish and chips. Up Thai for lunch about 2 minute walk, great food - locals eat here. Dinner - go to Le P'TIT Canon, the locals like it and so did we.
The hotel is spotless. The bathroom fixtures sparkle. The staff, from the ownership of Catherine and Josef and the rest of the team are terrific. If you are like me and you want to give your limited French a whirl the staff is extremely patient and tries to help. Specifically, Sofiane really went the extra mile and made me feel great to have a conversation in French.
If you want a clean room, safe area, close to Paris attractions (but not too close), friendly staff and dine with locals this is the place to go. You will not be disappointed.

We were in Paris last month & stayed at New Orient for three nights. My husband and I don't speak any French, so we were pleased that the front desk staff spoke English very well, were friendly and willing to help. The only thing I wasn't terribly happy with, not knowing Paris very well, was the location. It had a great location close to the Metro or some bus lines for getting around, but if you just want to walk around that area, it is not quite as central as other hotels you can find for the same price level. That being said, after getting aquainted with the Metro, I would certainly stay at New Orient on future trips to Paris.

I had to plan a very special 30th birthday for my girlfriend, and looked at a number of hotels in Paris.

I chose the New Orient due to how highly regarded it seemed to be. There are cheaper hotels out there, but I really do feel very happy with what we got for our money!

We had room 7, a "Balcony & Bath" room on the 2nd floor. The stairs are nice and wide and it's really not that far to go up or down to get to the room from reception.

We were always greeted by a very friendly person at reception, who spoke English very well. The room was nice and large, and the view of the street quite nice from the balcony. It's only small and is a bit of a squeeze, but 2 people can sit out there on it!

The bathroom and shower was also very nice. Lighting was eco-lights in the main room, and was a bit dim (but romantic!). The bathroom was nice and bright.

The hotel is really well situated between Villiers and Europe metro stations. For our 4 day visit we found it very convenient to walk (about 3 minutes) to Villiers, which seemed to be well connected. From Villiers it's a short trip to Charles de Gaulle, which is where we either got the RER A to Disney, or another line to the Eiffel tower etc.

I'd arranged with the management to have a bottle of champagne and cake ready for my girlfriend on her birthday. They were very obliging and nothing was too much trouble. We returned from Disney to find a nice bottle of champagne in our room, shortly after the receptionist arrived with a lovely little cake, complete with the decorations I'd brought with me.

The room walls are a little thin, but as the hotel is reasonably small I didn't find that there was much noise from other guests (there are only a few rooms per floor). Also the double glazed windows were excellent at keeping the room quiet from the street outside (which isn't a busy street either).

I really cannot fault this hotel, and look forward to returning in future years!
