Reviewing this on the basis that they market themselves as a 2-star hotel, it's perfect!

Great service: We arrived a bit early (and hadn't given notice) and our room wasn't ready. We were told we could leave our luggage at the hotel, no problem. Had coffe and a croissant at the next door bakery, took a walk past a nice park down to Arc de Triomphe, subway back again, and by the time we got back to the hotel, our room was ready and they had even put our suitcases in the room!

We had a nice room with a french balcony toward the street. The street may have some traffic during daytime, but at night it was pretty silent (and the doors are pretty soundproof). Two bakeries close by, a small one next door, and a slightly larger one at Rue Larribe (between the hotel and Villiers metro station). Small grocery store across the hotel, (mind the hotel room has no fridge).

Nice, clean bathrooms, which seemed fairly new (we had a room with a shower - nice pressure).

Small steep stairway in the hotel, floor space could fit two small suitcases, but I would probably think twice if I was going there with heavy loads of luggage. They do have a tiny elevator though.

They were doing maintenance in the hallway when we were there, but there was no noise that bothered us, and maintenance has to bee done, so I'm not going to complain about that! Better to do it now than during high season I assume.

All in all, a wonderful and charming non-chain 2-star hotel, with excellent service and great value for money! Free wifi is always a bonus too.

By the way, I stumbled upon a street market in Rue Levis next to Villiers metro station, very nice and charming.

Wonderful staff, lovely room and a bed just as good as your own. We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend in Paris courtesy of this hotel and its friendly staff.

From the moment we stepped inside the door we felt welcome.
The staff are a delight - so helpful and a genuine cheerfulness.
Our room was so good - the bed was like being at home in my own bed - I have never slept so well away from home.
Close to the Metro and a lovely little brasserie at the top of the road - oh yeah - and a patisserie 100 years from the hotel - is that Heaven or what!?

My wife and I came to Paris after a week stay in Bordeaux. We stayed three nights at the New Orient Hotel and were very happy with our choice to stay here based on the reviews here on Trip Advisor. The hotel doesn't have all the amenities that some do and this is the reason for the 2 star rating. However, if you are looking for a place that you will basically just sleep at, this is the place you should stay. They have a nice continental breakfast as well.

The location is good with access to most anywhere you would want to go and there are several good restaurants within a 5 - 10 minute walk. There is also a grocery store/market right across the street and a laudromat less than 2 minutes away.

If we are ever in Paris again, we will definetly be staying at the New Orient Hotel again.

I was reluctant to book this hotel because it is only ranked two stars but had read so many good things on TripAdvisor that I felt it was a risk worth taking and it was. The hotel is so clean, is in a great location (best pain au chocolat is just one block away...turn right out the front door) and is charming to boot. We were there in January but the balconies off the rooms would be particularly nice in the spring and summer. I have stayed in many hotels in Paris, and this is one of the best deals. The only negative was some day-time reno-work that was a bit noisy when we were recovering from jet lag. Also, we didn't go for the cheapest room - we got the next grade up so that we would have a bathtub.

Rooms spotless, the maids did s brilliant job it wad immaculate every time we got back! It was my birthday whilst we were there also an I even had a card and a present waiting for me when we got back from a long day out and about! Little touches like this to me make all the difference! I will be going back to Paris again an undoubtably will be staying here again! It wad like being at home! Thankyou Xx

A lot has already been said about the new orient, the key points being.

* Brilliant hosts who do all they can to make you welcome.
* Great central location within a short walk of 5 metro stops
* Cosy rooms that are very comfortable and well maintained. They are not small!
* Very competitive prices for central Paris
* Spiral staircase that will be fine for most people, if not there is a small lift that has been retrofitted into the old building - not a problem for either my wife or I.

Would definatly return here for subsequent paris trips.
