“Fun But A Bit Pricey”
Reviewed 12 December 2013

Just a short, South-West, walk away from Porte Dauphine, right at the edge of the Lac Inférieur sits a small, wooden shack which enables locals and tourists alike to rent a rowing boat. At 10€ per hour, it's not exactly cheap but the service has been around for decades and still remains a pretty popular thing to do on a nice, sunny day outside.

The row boats themselves aren't special in any way but remain unchanged over the years. They're wooden, well maintained but will require a little elbow grease to get going. It is however worth it and a lot of fun, for kids and adults alike.

The lake itself is pretty big and is located in the scenic Bois de Boulogne which makes for a fun adventure albeit a pricey one.

“Better than Hyde Park!”
Reviewed 31 October 2013

Dear Londoners, no offence! Although inspired by Hyde Park, this park is definitely more relaxing and charming. Lac Superior is a must see. I highly advise you to enjoy a Horse Race in the racetrack located in the park.

“Great area especially for the kids”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

This is a perfect place for kids especially that Paris doesn't have plenty of those. There is an amusement park suitable for all ages, lakes and gardens. This is a really beautiful place. It is however, very big and thus, one needs to know where to go to get to the kind of activities he is searching for.

“The lungs and romance of Paris”
Reviewed 11 August 2013

If you dig walking through gardens then this is the main lungs of Paris. Share the pathways with horse drawn carriages, cyclists walkers and cars. Take a boat from the eastern bank of the lower lake to the two islands where you can picnic or relax. There are numerous, elegant eateries in the Bois.
At the northern edge of the park, you can share in the happy squeals of children and the zoo, amusement park and a narrow gauge railway. There are two racetracks, leading to the 24 hectare Park de Bagatelle, containing one of Europ's finest rose collection and tulips. Lovely strolling area with seclusion and quiet.

“Jardins (Parc) de Bagatelle -magnificent roses in June”
Reviewed 25 July 2013

The Bois de Boulogne is huge and overwhelming.

On my first visit there a few years ago I hadn't researched properly and ended up at the jardin d'acclimatation, with fun rides for children when I was looking for flower gardens!

This time I knew where I was going, to the Jardins (Parc) de Bagatelle.Metro to Porte Maillot then bus 244.

It was the third week of June and the rose garden was magnificent. So many different kinds .I also enjoyed the iris garden which was still flowering.

There was a heavy downpour in the morning so there were very few people. My main company was the peacocks and, surprisingly, quite a few cats.

On a weekday there wasn't anywhere to get food in the middle of the day. There was a restaurant but it was holding a function so take a picnic with you.
