“Just can't beat the location/price”

This is Paris, the land where customer service is just expecting too much.

I found the staff friendly and flexible, but expecting them to provide information or preform services is just asking too much for this category of hotel.

I highly recommend this spot for low-maintenance travellers who know Paris like they back of their hand and are looking for a super cheap hotel. The rooms were clean, the maid service prompt.

On the downside: the phones are ridiculously expensive (local calls are not free), the towels were like sandpaper and the shampoo/showe gel/soap barely adequate.

Upside: You're smack in the middle of Paris, next to the two busiest metro lines and near great restaurants and cafes. The rooms were small, but I've seen smaller for more money. My bed was quite comfortable and the hotel quiet even though I was on the rue de Rivoli.

Also, they're dog friendly.

Happy about the hotel for the price. The decor is a bit like your staying at your grandma's house. The guy working in reception was extremely unhelpfull though. He's respons to questions was just a blank stare and no response. I won't be staying here again just on how awefull the service was.

Location is the real star for this property. Rooms are adequate , with very dramatic wallpaper and considering its location on main road, the sound proofing allows for a a very peaceful sleep. The bathroom in our double room was very cramped and common to many European hotels. All areas where well maintained and clean and although there is a lift , it needs "authority" from first floor reception to actually operate from the ground upwards. It really is only minutes to Notre Dame, a few more minutes to the Louvre and seconds from a multitude of restaurants, bars and cafes. We stayed for 5 nights and felt we would happily return again.

Room Tip: Room with balcony overlooking rue Rivoli on second floor.

just returned from Paris after spending a night a this hotel. the staff could not have been nicer, provided wine glasses, a snack, arranged air port transportation. what ever we requested was provived. the facility is well located for walking around. many restaurants near by.
the facility is clean and one gets about what they pay for. it is an economic hotel in a good location. across from a park with large windows opening on to the park. the decorations are different. sort of shabby shiek as other Paris hotels, the rooms are small yet adequate. liked the in room free internet. found it a good place to stay if one wishes to hold down the cost and be in a convenient location.

Room Tip: a front room on an upper floor. we had no. 11 which was fine

The Hotel de Nice is rated as a three-star, but even by European standards, I would say it is not. We have made nine trips to Europe in the last eleven years, so we’re pretty familiar with what lower-priced hotels have to offer. We chose this hotel for our eight-day stay in Paris after our first choice informed us they were fully booked. This was about sixteen weeks out, so I was quite surprised. The hotel was able to give us a room facing the street with a balcony and a bathtub, as we requested. Not many hotels in Europe in this price range have bathtubs, and at the Hotel de Nice only a few of their twenty-five rooms had tubs. A bathtub was very important to my wife, and that, along with an excellent location very close to two metro stops, were the deciding factors in our choice, along with the free wi-fi, which worked very well in our room.

Here’s what we didn’t like. We’re an older couple, but pretty self-sufficient, and don’t require much from hotel staff, who were pleasant enough, but not once did anyone ask us if we were happy, and if there was anything they could do to make us more comfortable. The bed was okay, but the pillows were hard and lumpy. Towels were like sandpaper. Toiletries were cheap, and sometimes not restocked sufficiently. Lighting was terrible--even with three table lamps and one overhead ceiling light, it was hard to see into the armoire, which was the only spot for clothing. There was no shower curtain, so in using the shower I had to aim it in a corner to try keep from water from going everywhere, at which I was not successful and so always had an inadequate shower and still had to mop up water from the floor. Also, if very clean is a must, the Nice is not--at certain angles, you could easily see grimy streaks on the bathroom tile. The windows facing the street were new, and did a fair job at blocking street noise (rue de Rivoli is a very busy boulevard, though we like facing streets and squares because we feel more a part of the city than if we were fronting a courtyard, or worse, another building.) And while we don’t watch much tv, the only English channel was the BBC, and they covered nothing of much interest between 6pm when we returned from our day’s activities until 8pm when we went back out for dinner.

So. Would we stay here again? Probably not. And what clinched this for us was that the cab we requested to take us to the airport was late getting to the hotel, and though madame promised the rate was a standard 60E for all cabs from anywhere in Paris to CDG, our (private) driver insisted on 75E. So madame does business with parties she must know are disreputable, because this cannot be the first time this had happened.

It was like we fell down the rabbit's hole and found ourselves in the Queen's magical garden. The hotel resembles a doll's house with its bright pink & turquoise wall paper, golden birds and flowery decor. It's a very colourful atmosphere which creates an interesting feeling of fairy tale...

The hotel has been recently renovated, the paint and wallpaper is fresh, bathrooms (albeit very small in our double room) are also new. Our double room on the second floor was of decent size, very clean, equipped with a TV and free WiFi. Double glazing prevents any noise from outside (it's overlooking a square with restaurants), we slept very well. We were also happy to have a room with a balcony, just adds a lovely touch somehow. Breakfast was quite good for 8 EUR (coffee and juice, pastry and jams). Otherwise you can also have breakfast at the cafe outside (it's adjacent to the hotel), for 11 EUR you also get an egg and some toast.

The best thing about this hotel is of course its location. It is only a few minute walk from the Centre Pompidou, the City Hall, the Louvre, etc. Plenty of atmosphere and things to see. In fact, as you turn right upon exiting the hotel, you will find yourself in a pedestrian square full of restaurants. We recommend the Italian one, very nice food, polite service at very reasonable prices.

All in all we had an excellent stay. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The rooms clean and safe. Great value for money. We would come back and recommend this hotel to others.

Room Tip: We had a room on the second floor with a balcony and liked it a lot.

Hotel is in the heart of the Marais, great location. Easy walk to Hotel de Ville. Handy to a laundromat in street behind Rue de Rivoli. Quite small room & squeezy bathroom, like most Paris three-stars. We had a second floor room, which was a bit noisy as over the top of a restaurant and overlooking a square. Helpful staff. Basic but adequate breakfasts. Wifi coverage on mobile was OK in first floor dining room and second floor room, you can also use the street level restaurants wifi. Overall, good value for a perfectly adequate central Paris three-star hotel.

Room Tip: Second floor room overlooking square can be a bit noisy with restaurant patrons and early morning st...
