The staff at the Hotel Delambre always had a smile and happy "bonjour", from the minute we walked in, we were made to feel at home. The hotel is more than comfortable and good size superior rooms with a balcony overlooking rue delambre. It's location is close to everything and steps away from bakery, grocer, pharmacy, laundromat, and tons of restaurants..and a metro line at each end of this true parisian neighborhood street. We would stay here again in a second!!!

Room Tip: Book a superior room..larger with a balcony overlooking rue delambre..we stayed on the 4th floor..pe...

Returned from four night stay, 23 September-27 September, 2011. We have stayed here on previous trips and elected to come back. The front desk staff is very friendly and always very helpful, including speaking English. While my French is decent, they do not hesitate with English which is, of course, useful when my vocabulary dries up. On this trip, once again, we had a room facing to the street. Friday night it was quite festive on the street until the wee hours. With the window open it was loud. However, thankfully, the AC was still operational so we closed up the window and it was very quiet. On previous trips in February, street noise is not an issue. While the rooms themselves are a bit of a squeeze for two people, we have found them just fine, functional and clean. The wireless service is fine in the room and quite the bargain at 5euros for the entire stay! Within five minutes walk you will find tons of cafes, restaurants and bistros. The Edgar Quinet metro is all of a 90 second walk, Vavin four minutes. If coming in by RER from CDG, you can take too Denfert and connect on the metro to Quinet. It is very handy. All things considered, this hotel has served us very well and I would return.

We just came back from a long trip in Europe (Germany, France, Belgium & Holand) which included three days in Paris. We we stayed only two nights at this hotel. The hotel is well located in the city and accommodations were comfortable. However, it lacks good customer service.
Upon arrival, the check in employee failed to assist us with the luggage and was unsure as to where exactly our room was in the building ("between the 4th or 5th floor...") The hotel staff did not describe the particularities of the services offered at the hotel, and was unreasonable and unfamiliar with the hotel management functions in the resolution of issues, such as the one that arose during our stay.
The reasonable prices for the rooms for a 3 star hotel influenced our decision to stay here, considering our short stay. But it seems that the price is THE catch, and that the management uses any excuse to make extra money from their guests.
The hotel offers WiFi at an extra cost, which we paid. They gave us a small strip of paper with the password and we were not warned by the staff that if it gets lost we would have to pay double for the same service.

However, we kept the little strip of paper with the "secret" password on a table in the room and left for a walk. When we returned it was gone! Apparently it was trashed during the hotel cleaning service. We explained exactly what happened to the reception employee. He was less than accommodating, was unreasonable, and unwilling to provide any customer satisfaction resolution. He said he was "just an employee there" and that was forced by the management to charge us again. He suggested that we talk to the management the next day. The next morning we left without being able to meet with the manager to resolve the issue.

The experience left us with a bitter taste of what should be considered a 3 star hotel, and though the price for the service is affordable, the real issue remains on the principle of serving us well and fairly as their guests. By the quality of service received we would have thought this is a two star hotel.

My wife and I stayed 4 nights at Hotel Delambre in mid July, and really enjoyed our stay. We had a superior double room - spacious, clean, nicely decorated room, decent bed, full bathroom with tub and shower. Air condtioned rooms, so it was always at a comfortable temperature. Wifi available at a very reasonable price - 5 euro for the entire stay. Staff are friendly and can help you out in English if you need that. Many restaurants and cafes nearby in Montparnasse, and the hotel is half a block away from the Edgar Quinet metro stop - very convenient to get around. A great base for exploring Paris. A solid 3 star, at good value for Paris. We had looked at several other places online prior to booking, and walked past all of them at some point during our stay, and remained very pleased with our choice.

Cons - the bed had an old fashioned bedspread - a comforter would have been nicer. No coffee/tea in the room, or iron.

I paid 100 euros for a double room in January 2011. The room was pretty small, but is in the average for that class of hotel in Paris. The hotel kept its old style, but everything is well maintained and clean. There is an electric heater is the room and it could remove all the humidity and the cold temperature in the room easily.

The location of the hotel is great and there are a lot of cafes and restaurants in the neighborhood. There are also metro stations from different lines near the hotel. Montparnasse is a great neighborhood to stay if you want to feel the Parisian life.

The staff from the hotel was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is not included with the room rates, but a continental breakfast is served in the lobby for less than 10 euros.

You can buy an access for wifi, but on the third floor, I had problems to connect to major websites. I decided to stop paying and to connect to an unsecured wifi available, which was faster than the one from the hotel.

Overall, I would recommand that hotel for its good value and great location.

I travelled to Paris with 3 friends (4 Canadian adults from Toronto total). It was the first time to Paris for us all, and we wanted something with privacy (separate rooms), clean, in a safe and interesting area, and at a reasonable cost. The online search was exhausting as we found problems listed with one hotel after another, or with prices more than we were willing to pay. Finally a colleague of mine who just returned from Paris recommeded the Hotel Delambre. We were impressed with the look of it on their website, and received prompt and courteous responses from the hotel, which was in a great area (Montparnasse). Rooms were very reasonably priced.

We couldn't have asked for a better hotel stay. Our conceirge, Jean Paul, was wonderful - so pleasant and helpful - he really made our stay extremely pleasant. The hotel itself was very nicely decorated, very clean beyond a fault, and in such a convenient area - a few minutes walking distance to 2 Metro lines, and right in the heart of a lively bistro area frequented by hip locals who live and socialize there. We felt immediately at home, safe and comfortable. Just down the street was a Saturday morning farmer's market, a wine shop, cheese shop, and bakery. We were in heaven!

In fact we loved the place so much, I promised to take the time from my busy schedule to post this rave review so that others can benefit from our good fortune. Thank you Jean Paul and the Hotel Delambre for making our trip to Paris perfect!
