“Gothic beauty in a great location”
Reviewed 15 July 2014 via mobile

We stayed in the "special dome room" on our honeymoon. Very romantic atmosphere with antique furniture, lace edged curtains and tall windows. My husband didn't love the bathroom in this room, with the hand held shower. I thought it was charming and relaxing. Great location with lots of cafés, shopping, and a great bakery on the block.

Our room was a triple and quite large for a European hotel. The décor was gothic, our bed even had gargoyles on it! Very cool. The staff is very helpful and friendly, if you ask and get to talking with them. We were on the top floor, and our room was hot! We couldn't leave the window open at night, because of the street noise. That was the only bad thing. Breakfast is delivered to your room each morning, which was great. Tell them each night what time to deliver it. Tea, yogurt, bread, fruit, juice - really good.

This is a special hotel, conveniently located between Louvre, les Halles an the Marais. The rooms are perhaps not so big, but all uniquely decorated in an almost 17th century style. Our bed was a bit small for two grown up people. Very friendly staff. If the rate includes breakfast, you will get a typical French breakfast served in the room. Note that there is no elevator, so you need to be able to climb stairs if you want to stay here. Because we booked early, we had a good price, far below the official rate. Or bathroom did have some leakage/humidity problems, but nothing that cannot be repaired.

Room Tip: All rooms will have some level of street noise, as far as we could see. But windows can be closed an...

The hotel St Merry is in a brilliant location close to many bars and restaurants and the Chaterel metro station. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and I will definitely be back. One point though is it's a bit noisy from the street at night but that didn't bother us because we slept very soundly in the very comfortable bed.

I just stayed at this charming little cathedral-turned-hotel last week. It is a clean hotel with lots of character, and the staff is very helpful (though a bit standoffish at first). However, the hotel is located on a very active walking street with many cafes, and at night it is very noisy. If the window can be kept shut, it is fine, but without air conditioning, and with the windows open, it is incredibly loud late into the night.

I would stay there again -- it's in a good location near Notre Dame and the Louvre -- but I would never choose to stay there in warm weather when I would need the window open to sleep.

Also, be aware, there are many circular steps to climb to get to the rooms.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are noisier.

Gothic beautiful hotel in Le Marais.

We just returned form our short trip to Paris and this is one of the hotels we stayed at; I have chosen this hotel particularly for it's Gothic decor and it exceeded all my expectations.
-The location is perfect, within walking distance to the Seine and Ile de la Cité, Louvre, the Pompidou Center with beautiful L'Atelier Brancus, the Marais with its lovely quirky book shop Mona Lisait, which I love etc.
- The hotel and its people charming; in the former presbytery of Saint Merry’s Church, from the narrow spiral staircases to the door handles, the attention to detail is amazing.
- We had initially booked the triple room, but to our surprise, we were offered a free upgrade to the suite St Merry, room 20, with its amazing period decor, chandeliers, stone and wood work, comfortable beds, beautiful views of roof tops and gargoyles. What a delight!
- We had no problems with the noise outside, the hotel is in a lively place and this is to be expected, also the fact that i was awoken by the church bells, to me was rather charming.
- There is no elevator, and although this is never a problem for us - we travel light and are generally able to take stairs to any floor, this may be a problem for other less able travellers.
-We paid 250 euros for one night, and being offered the free upgrade, I cannot possibly say it wasn't worth it; we loved every bit of it.

Room Tip: I think the hotel is rather suitable for specific and well defined segment of the population, a nich...

This hotel is right in the center of the Marais district which for Londoners' is like staying in the middle of Soho. Which is just what we wanted for a fun weekend in Paris! Loads of bars and restaurants on your doorstep.

It's not quiet but if you want that stay in other parts of Paris, like St Germain.

The decor is charming and gothic and the staff couldn't be friendlier. Breakfast is delivered to your room at a time of your choosing.

We stayed in Room 1 which was a bit cosy but if you want some more space they do have bigger rooms for a few more euros.

We would definitely stay here again because of the staff and location.
