Hotel Dauphine Saint Germain

Certificate of Excellence

We chose the Dauphine after reading the reviews and would add our recomendation to everyone else's. Firstly the situation of the Hotel is perfect from reaching it via the RER from CDG, couldn't be more simple, no changing lines, a direct route and short walk.

Its position in the Latin Quarter is great; slightly away from the more brash tourist area which is across the road from the St Michel Fountain, with it's tourist tat shops and multi-ethnic restaurants. This area reminded me of the 'Drains' in Sorrento with a mixture of a package holiday resort. The Dauphine however, is surrounded by more 'French' feeling bars and restaurants and yet it is a quiet and relaxing oasis. We were kindly upgraded to a superior room after a simple exchange of emails, many thanks. Our room was no smaller than many typical English B&B's, but well furnished and appointed. I like small and quaint and that's what we got so a happy bunny!

As has been said previously, the staff were all great, although we had most to do with Guy of whom we cannot speak highly enough. Extremely helpful, friendly and attentive, he should give lessons to people in how to give good customer service. Because of the 'French' disease (strikes) Guy checked our flight and ensured that our taxi would arrive, as he advised against taking the RER on 'the day of action', great service. Shame he's leaving for Bordeaux but maybe we should check out that City!

We took breakfast every morning up the street in Le Buci, €8.50 good value. We ate at Vins et Terroirs, on Rue St Andre des Arts, unassuming but passable food; Le Christine on Rue Christine, more expensive but better quality and one other which I can't remember so enough said!

We plan to go back to Paris and would definitely use the Dauphine again which in itself must be the best recommendation for this hotel.

Comfortable rooms, lovely shared facilities, helpful staff, free wireless Internet access and a central location made this an ideal place for us. Great bars and cafes all around, and lovely little shops as well. A chance encounter with Jacques Chirac was a bonus. Thanks Hotel Dauphine St Germain and Tanya our Travel Agent for arranging such a lovely hotel. Have already recommended that friends stay there - they are arranging at present.

My husband and I stayed here in early October. Farah and Guy (front desk staff) were absolutely wonderful in assisting us with all of our questions ranging from metro questions, purchasing tickets, arranging shuttle to the airport and calling a doctor to the hotel when my husband became ill. They always had a smile on their face and were extremely pleasant and helpful. The room was very clean although on the smallish side which is common for Paris. The hotel is in a great, lively, fun location with many restaurants, cafes, shops, etc nearby. It is a very short walk to the Seine, Notre Dame, andthe Louvre. We would definitely stay here again.

Location and staff make the Hotel Dauphine the place to stay on the Left Bank. It is an easy walk to many of the major sites of Paris - the Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, Notre Dame, etc. and the Rue St. Germain - and many fine restaurants. The staff was exceedingly pleasant and helpful in all respects and recommended several restaurants where we ate and enjoyed our meals. The rooms are small, in the European style, but well furnished and clean. The elevator is very cramped, so be prepared to use the stairs. We were on the fifth floor - - 101 steps! Breakfast is not included in the room rate, and is expensive, so find a creperie.

The staff of this hotel went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and to help us with directions, advice, etc. Although the rooms were somewhat small, everything was very clean and comfortable. The location could not have been better, very near the Metro, many restaurants, Notre Dame and the Louvre. A very lively and fun area.

This year my husband and I were able to stay for 2 weeks in Paris and, of course, we chose the Dauphine as our hotel - again. I knew that there were a few changes in personnel during the previous year, so I was curious about the type of service we'd receive. (Two of the personnel were people we had gotten to know well throughout our many stays at the hotel.) The great news? The front desk team and the cleaning women were still excellent - I especially enjoyed being introduced to Farah by Guy and was delighted by her helpfulness and cheerfulness. Although there were some complaints about the new server, my husband and I never experienced any difficulties - so I guess we were some of the lucky guests! Shortly before the end of our stay, we were told that the server was in his final few days there and that a new server had been hired. From the most recent reviews of the hotel, it seems that guests are now very happy with all of the staff! Per usual, our room was well equipped, clean, quiet, and nicely climate controlled; the salon was well kept and provided a nice break for wine or cocktails; and the buffet breakfast supplied us with all the caloric intake necessary! And, per usual, the staff remained the true stars of the Dauphine.

This hotel was outstanding. It is in the Latin Quarter and a walk away from everything. Go left out of hotel and you are one block to the Seine then choose right to Notre Dame or left to Louvre. If you go right there are loads of Brassiere's and restaurants, shopiing and of course St. Germain. We liked using this metro for Eiffle tower and Versailles. Yes the rooms are small and I would pass on the expensive breakfast but really you are in Paris who atays in their room!
