“A single incident marred the whole experience”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

We stayed around Christmas and overall room amenities were nice. Unfortunately one night we were locked out at the main entrance. The hotel locked the main entrance after hours and the only way to get in is to buzz the reception (don't know why they don't have card access). We buzzed for 15 minutes at 2 am and the receptionist was asleep. There was another couple trying to call the hotel main line and nobody answered. Very irate and felt unsafe in the middle of the night when the street was quiet.

Otherwise the hotel was decent but beware if you are staying late.

We stayed at the Mercure Paris Voltaire for 4 nights. Our room was small but cleverly equipped to that space was maximised and we felt very comfortable. There was air conditioning which was necessary as it was 27 degrees outside but it was almost silent so didn't disturb our sleep. My only 2 gripes were the extremely bright LED clock on the tv which faced the bed and kept the room illuminated, and the cramped arrangement in the en-suite which, without going into too much detail, made sitting on the loo "interesting". Staff were friendly and helpful, and the location is good - only 30 seconds from the metro station Voltaire. The biggest minus though is that there is no bar in the hotel but for our nightcap we frequented a small Brazilian bar diagonally opposite (called the Jupiter I think) which served amazing Brazilian cocktails and World Cup football! I can recommend this hotel if you don't mind a dry visit!

Had to find a hotel in the 11th arrondissement, booked this one, located in a rather non descript neighbourhood, on a corner with Place Voltaire. If you enter the reception you fear the worst: a dismal small place with a breakfast place where I can hardly imagine anyone to actually enjoy a meal. I was put in a room next to the elevator, a real no go, so back to the receptionist, got a room at the back of the hotel on a higher floor. In all honesty the room was just fine, comfortable quiet and with all amenities you can expect, not anything negative but not for any stay longer than one night.

Dear Guest,
I would like to tell you that we give a lot of importance to your message.
I understand your disappointment caused by the size of the breakfast room ; indeed, this one contains 30 seats for a total of 52 rooms. When all the seats are occupied, we invite our customers to wait a few moments that a table releases itself.
We are happy that the room and its amenities pleased you.
We hope we can welcome you again at the Mercure Paris Voltaire Quartier Bastille.
Kind regards.

we stayed three nights at a twin room with baby cot on the 6th floor of the hotel. The room was really spacious, the bathroom was huge for Parisian hotel!Breakfast had everything one could ask but not big variety.Personnel was quite friendly with good suggestions for food!Every restaurant we tried was a gem!Location was also great near Bastille and Marais and with a wide variety of shops and restaurants nearby. The only downsize was the noise from the street which -although we stayed at the 6th floor-was notable .It was not a problem for us though!

We found this hotel to be exactly as described on the website. We booked a privilege room and it lived up to our expectations. It was immaculate and had spectacular views. Breakfast was delicious and really easily accessed. The Metro was just a couple of steps outside the hotel. Excellent! :)

We chose this hotel for its location and were not disappointed - great neighbourhood and right next to a metro stop. There is a supermarket round the corner and restaurants very close by. We paid extra for a Privilege room so we would have some more space and be on the top floor. We are from a colder climate and found the room a little hot on some days, but were told that the air conditioning is not switched on as it is not hot in Paris in April... Maybe let your guests decide what is hot and cold - where we live 22 deg C is hot.

The room itself was pleasant, but it was missing some of the items that we had been told were included (iPhone dock and robes). These were provided when we asked. Then we came back after being out all day and the room had only been half serviced and the free mini bar had not been filled. We asked for new towels/toiletries and new drinks which were bought to us. The hotel manager had left a card with his email so I let him know our concerns - he left us a fruit basket and advised he would ensure that we had no further problems. However, it happened again... And that evening a brown stained pillow case was left on the chair in our room. Yuk.

As we checked out, we were told we would get a bonus amount of Le Club points to make up for the issues. This was very welcome as we were a little annoyed to have paid extra for a Privilege room only to have to keep asking for things that should have been automatically done. However, the points were not awarded and I had to chase them when I got home (this has now been fixed).

So in summary, a great location, lovely receptionists who tried hard to fix issues, a responsive manager, but no follow through and really poor housekeeping services.

Room Tip: Privilege rooms are much bigger than standard ones (but cost more of course!)

I just got back from 5 days in Paris and stayed at the Mercure Voltaire Paris, in the Bastiille quarter. It was fantastic! First of all, the staff were super helpful! They helped us find restaurants, directions to get to our desired locations (walking, metro and trains) and even printed up our tickets to get into museums and our plane boarding passes! All were very sweet and could speak perfect English. Our room was on the 7th floor with a great view of the neighborhood and always super clean each day. Be sure to buy the breakfast. It is wonderful and a huge selection (eggs, bacon, sausages, fruit, cheeses, cold meats etc. (For those of you who are addicted to Nutella, like I am, there is plenty of it plus croissants and bread etc. to spread it on!) Last of all, there is a metro station right outside the hotel door that will get you anywhere that you may wish to go in Paris. I will definitely go back to this hotel if I am lucky enough to travel to Paris again! Nancy D. Mpls, Mn, USA

Room Tip: Any room is great! I had a double room with two beds! Get the breakfast...fantastic!
