We were planning a 3rd stay but cancelled. After all, for the price charged there shouldn't be any problems.
On our 1st stay, the 1st room we were assigned was tiny although it was, supposedly, a deluxe room. It was not worth what we were charged. We complained and were given a larger room with a view. Although appreciated who wants problems the first time.
Ate at the hotel's more casual restaurant and both the service and the food was disappointing. So much for visit number 1.
On our 2d visit 10 days later we were given a nice room. We stayed under the Amex Fine Hotels program with an 85E food and beverage credit so we decided to spend it having a drink and appetizers in the bar. The food was, in my wife's words "awful"
When we got our bill on checkout, we discovered that the 85E credit didn't apply to alcoholic beverages. We explained that the Fine Hotels program says food and beverage but were told we hadn't read the fine print. Later i did and guess what, there was no such limitation stated
anywhere.
Consider this--if the food is lousy and you can't spend the credit on 2 drinks, what is it good for?
Two stays, both expensive and both disappointing so we cancelled our planned 3rd stay.
A luxury hotel experience should be exactly that and sadly, the Shangri-La failed to deliver.

Room Tip: Don't be afraid to complain if you get a disappointing room

Dear Pamshusband,

Thank you for sharing your impressions regarding your stay at Shangri-la Hotel, Paris. As mentioned already in our e-mail recently sent to you, we truly apologize for not having been able to convince you on both stays. In addition to the room which was not to your liking, I understand your disapppointment with the conditions of the 85 euro credit which were not made perfectly clear prior to your visit. For this reason, we confirm that we did credit your account with the balance of what was already consumed on your second stay.
Furthermore, we have now confirmed with Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts that the credit will be valid on food and beverage, for all guests booking this package. We are truly sorry that you did not give us a final chance to provide you with the Shangri-La Experience, our aim was definitely not to upset you and we truly hope that we will continue welcoming you at Shangri-La Hotel Paris on your next trips to the City of Lights.

Our stay was 3 nights from 12/30- 1/02 and I have to say a warning to stay away from this hotel if you are looking for a seamless luxury stay. At 1,400E a night it should be a seamless stay. I will say that with each of the issues that we encountered the hotel staff did respond, but I was not happy with the resolutions and these issues never should have happened in the first place.

1. Check in is at 3. Tired after a long day of flights and just wanted to get in. We were told to come back at 3 and our room would be ready. The room was not ready until 5pm! We spent two hours sitting in the lounge waiting, which put us behind on our first night in Paris. The hotel ordered us a round of drinks and apologized, but we just wanted to be in our room.
2. When we got to our room there was a lovely tower of macaroons and next to it a note from the hotel welcoming us. Little did I know that these macaroons had been purchased by a friend a few days earlier and were supposed to be sent up with a hand written card. No card was sent and by placing a card from the hotel next to it I just assumed they were from the hotel. My friends went down to the front desk and they issued the line that would keep repeating itself at this hotel, “This never happens at the Hotel Shangri-La, we are sorry”. He then had my friend write another card and said they would send something up the next day. Guess what? Nothing ever came and they lost the card again.
3. We ordered breakfast to be delivered at 9am. The short story is by 10:40am breakfast had never came and they basically said they sent our breakfast up and didn’t we get it? Breakfast finally came at noon (With half the items not being what we ordered), which once again made us behind by two hours in our day.

Many other smaller issues kept coming up from housekeeping issues to the tv in the bathroom being broken, but the card issue is really what gets me upset the most. The hotel could not even manage to get a gift left by someone up to the room. The hotel kept responding by sending bottles of champagne and offering us a dinner. While, that is nice it was not what I was paying 1,400E a night for. I wanted a seamless stay and instead so much of my time was wasted with late check-in, waiting for meals and the constant having to talk to staff about issues. When I spoke to a manager and a director they agreed to give me 400E off of ONE night stay, which I had to ask for a reduction in rate. I’m sure they just wanted to send another bottle of champagne. Basically it turned out to be a 9% discount for the stay. I said that I wanted 400E off my nightly rate as these issues happened everyday and they curtly said no and that they felt the resolution they provided was appropriate. I would have rather them provided 5 star service and not excuses! STAY AWAY

My family and I recently stayed in a Superior Room at the Shangri-La Hotel in the heart of Paris. The hotel, which opened fairly recently, is located in the completely renovated and restored palace that once belonged to Napoleon Bonoparte's grandnephew, Price Roland Bonaparte. The hotel is absolutely stunning. Attention was paid to every detail, from spectacular marble lobby to the breathtaking swimming pool and spa. Our spacious room overlooked the beautifully landscaped garden that belongs to the hotel. Our marble bathroom and dressing area was beautiful and oversized as well. We could even see the Tour Eiffel from both of our bathroom and bedroom windows! The service is impeccable at the hotel, especially the extremely professional and friendly concierge service, who bent over backwards to be sure that our stay in Paris went perfectly. We were impressed that the hotel offers a selection of reasonably priced children's meals, which my daughters enjoyed on several occasions.

The location in the 16th arrondissement is superb, as we were able to easily walk to the Avenue des Champs-Élysées as well as several of the city's best museums.

After staying at several of the other 5-Star hotels in Paris, I can easily say that the Shangri-La is by far the most beautiful and best one of all. We will definitely return to this hotel---the sooner the better!

Room Tip: The rooms that overlook the hotel's garden also offer stunning views of the Eiffel Tower and are...

We stayed in December over Christmas Eve and Christmas for three nights. We had two rooms. One Superior which was upgraded to a Deluxe room thanks to AE FHR program and then our room which we paid a bit more for (quite a bit) which was a guaranteed TERRACE Premier Eiffel Room. We wanted a view and got it! WOW is all we can say about this room. There are only two in the hotel like this and basically they are a corner room with view of the Eiffel Tower from the bedroom and the bathroom and then stairs up to a roof top terrace that has chairs, table, lounge chairs, etc. The view was amazing.

As far a location, we enjoy walking and were able to walk everywhere without any problems or issues. The location is great. 10-15 minute walk to the Champs. 5 minute walk to the tower.

PROS:
ROOM:
Room size was great
Room was clean and always serviced at least twice a day
Bathroom was great, spacious and had everything you could think of, down to toothbrushes, combs, etc.
blackout shades were great
Bed was super comfy
plenty of pillows
great bedside control for all lights and shades
Terrace was spacious and cleaned daily
Closet was HUGE
Comp shoe shine a great deal
Comp WiFi!!

HOTEL:
Beautiful hotel with lots of history
The bar was great, nice place to have drinks in the evening
Breakfast (which was included) had everything you could think of and was tasty
Shang Palace restaurant - EXCELLENT (separate review)

SERVICE:
WOW. From the moment you are at the front door to the moment you leave you are pampered.
Check-in was seamless and we were walked to our room
Front desk team was always helpful, courteous and smiling
Doormen, bellmen, all were always helpful and smiling
Concierge Team - Tony, Bastien, and all the rest of the team were amazing and so helpful with great recommendations, tickets and general knowledge. They went above and beyond with every request or question we had. Other hotels could learn from them!

CONS:
NONE!

We would return in a heartbeat. This is our 7th time in Paris, and this was by far our best stay.

Highly recommend this hotel, you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Ask for Eiffel view.

Five star all the way. Greet you at your taxi and take you right to your room to check in with a nice jasmine tea brought to your room. Went down to the beautiful restaurant (huge round skylight in the ceiling) and forgot my glasses. Within minutes the waiter brought out a box with the different prescription strengths for me to choose so I wouldn't have to go back to the room and find them!! The hotel is just steps away from the Eiffel Tower and river cruises. It was pouring rain for most of our five day stay, every time we went out they offered car service and/or an umbrella. Will definitely stay at the fabulous Shangri-La next trip to Paris.
