“Great Location, Geat staff, the odd niggle if you were being fussy”
Reviewed 27 October 2009

Just got back from a stay in Paris and booked this hotel despite the reviews. It seems they were either great or terrible!!

Firstly the location - know Paris well and this hotel couldn't have been better situated for central Paris, it was among other hotels on a really classy road. Easy access to everywhere, you could pretty much walk everywhere.

Secondly the lobby and public areas - Yes the lobby a little 'cold' looking as per another review, but the bar area was nice, the sofas around were comfortable and all very nice.

The spa - Really lovely pool, small steam room, nice look gym (didn't try it!) Changing areas were small and you did have to walk through teh hotel in your robe, but as everyone else did it wasn't a massive issue for me.

The room - we had a suite, so I cannot comment on other rooms - we had room number 228 which was GREAT. It was a duplex room with a FULL KINGSIZED bed upstairs and a second bateau lit type bed downstairs, this made up 2 singles for our children, which we were able to separate and have across from each other. We also had a sofa and a nice view of the courtyard. Bathroom had a small bath, a decent shower and double sinks, Nothing very luxurious and cheapish freebie bath products (not a massive issue)

I guess if you were being picky there was a wonky lightswitch, a bit of chipped pain here and there and the finish wasn't immaculate. For a hotel that has been renovated it has not been done to the highest standards.

OVERALL the service was fantastic, really nice staff, we asked for extra robes for the kids so we could go to the pool and they came in 5 minutes with childrens sized ones, but for some reason took all the robes away the next day?? We didn't need them again so not an issue and I am sure we could have got some sent up again. The beds were brilliantly comfy, better than any hotel I have slept in! Even the sofabed ones for comfy for grown-ups my husband said as he had a nap early evening on the kids bed!

We booked thiis hotel via Eurostar holidays and it was a bargain, at 'rack rate' or published rates it would be price, however we wanted 1 room to sleep 4 in central paris and didn't want a Novotel or another chain. This hotel met and exceeded expectations even after reading every review. I booked a Junior Suite, but called in advance and managed to get a free upgrade as they had messed up my booking.

If you can get a good deal, and don't expect 5 star luxury, 4 stars in Paris is similar to 3 stars elsewhere I feel (2 star hotels you really cannot swing a cat in) I have stayed in 5 star hotels and in no-star hotels and I think this hotel was perfect for what we wanted.

This hotel was an amazing first stop on our honeymoon. The staff took our honeymoon very seriously, sending a car to pick us up at the train station. They gave us a suite with a king bed and provided champagne and pastries upon arrival. Concierge worked very hard on our behalf securing tickets and making reservations, and the location can't be beat. We had a great time!

Location is good but the supposedly "Superior" room was terrible! For the price, there should not be:
- Tiny room, even by European standards. Barely fit a double bed.
- The "bed" is actually a mattress on a platform. No queen or king beds available in entire hotel. No sheets on the bed, only a duvet.
- Ugly and small bathroom that smelled of sewer gas
- No soundproofing. We could hear people talking, bodily noises and the staff all night long.
- Wallpaper peeling from the walls. Torn and stained carpet.

For the price, you can find much better. Heck, I would guess you can find much better for a lower price. Don't be fooled by the photos on the website.

When I pay for a 4 start hotel I do not expect this low standard in rooms. The pictures you see on the internet is only the exclusive rooms with high ceeling the rest has very low ceiling and the roooms are not maintainend properbly. When you first have checked in, then you do not want to spend your holiday time changing Hotel.

An example is that the swimming pool has no mmore key to their lockers and therefore requires that you change in your rooms and walks in your bath-robe through the bar and the reception to get to the swimming pool.

Location is good, but a hotel close to a metro station is nearly as good. To much to pay for good location and a 2 star hotel.

This hotel happened to be a bargain because it was just finishing up a renovation. The lobby is cold and unwelcoming (maybe they are still working on it?), but the bar - decor, atmosphere, friendly staff, food - was consistently great. The rooms were very nice and not as small as most European hotel rooms (from an American perspective, since we expect rooms the size of the Grand Canyon).

Bathroom was large with a full tub and, of course, a shower that sprayed all over the floor, but I guess that's what all the fluffy towels were for.

Every staff member we encountered - from front desk to concierge to bar to housekeeping - were helpful and friendly.

The breakfast room downstairs was very nice, with a huge choice of food. Multiple staff members were more interested in setting tables and not on waiting on us, so I got up and grabbed the coffee and refilled our cups. This horrified the staff, and they ran over as if I'd touched the Mona Lisa. But this didn't inspire them to wait on us, so I had to get up and pour more coffee for us again. The scrambled eggs were watery, but everything else was fine. But...way too expensive when you can walk down the street and get a coffee and croissant for next to nothing.

Conveniently located directly across the street from the Tuilleries gardens (and Metro) and a short walk to the Louvre.

We made the mistake of asking the Concierge for a restaurant recommendation and although the place he recommended was a short walk, was small and cozy (as we asked), it soon filled up with ONLY Americans. We don't dislike our fellow Americans, but we were looking for a more authentic experience, a place where the locals like to eat. The owner/manager at the recommended restaurant wasn't the friendliest guy in the world and his waitress was inexperienced, the menu was limited (beef, beef, beef and veal) and the food was mediocre.

Located walking distance from many of the tourist attractions. Metro is located across the street. The staff was extremely helpful. Rooms are very comfortable and well maintained. I did not get to experience the pool or the spa on premises, but I will say that every person who came out of the spa looked completely relaxed.

I will definitely be returning.

I stayed at this hotel during a business trip to Paris on September 2009. The best feature is the location, right accross the street from Tuilleries metro in the hear of Paris. Great neighborhood a few steps from Marche St Honore, plenty of restaurants, cafes, boutiques in the area. Unfortunately the two rooms I had were aweful. The first room was large for Parisian standard, but extremely noisy due to its proximity to rue Rivoli which has a lot of traffic. The second room was located in a higher floor on the courtyard side and it was much better as far as noise. However, both rooms were very old, dilapidated and in need of a major overhaul. The plumbing dates back quite a few decades, the paint was peeling in certain areas and the carpet had stains. The hotel is under renovation and the construction noise can be heard early in the morning. Because of its location I may consider returning but would not recommend it in its present stage.
