Hotel Opera Richepanse
Ranked #132 of 1,803 Hotels in Paris
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 13 August 2014

I was first introduced to this hotel by a colleague years ago and I find it to be an ideally located, well operated standby for trips to Paris. Ideally, I like the larger hotels (The Intercontinental on Rue Scribe, The Park Hyatt) - but to be honest the prices of those properties can be extremely high. I'll splurge for a special occasion but for routing in-and-out trips to Paris, it's hard to beat the Hotel Opera Richepanse.

The location is ideal in a small street (originally rue Richepanse) called rue du Chevalier de St. Georges. Literally a block from Madeline and a few blocks from Opéra. Also very close to the Louvre/Tulleries Gardens and the Seine. There are plenty of good cafes and eateries very close by, as is one of my favorite bars, Harry's.

The hotel itself is in the middle of the block and has an unassuming entrance. The desk staff is always courteous and helpful in meaningful ways (i.e. actually working to get you an early check-in when you arrive early off an overnight flight from the US). The rooms are not particularly spacious, but they do work well and the hotel is very well maintained. Due to the shape of building all rooms that I've seen have windows that open to the street(s).

I've never eaten in the hotel so I can't comment on the breakfast room.

Understand that this is not a grand hotel or a large full-service property. It's a very well located small hotel that offers decent rooms and service. I've recommended the hotel a few time to colleagues.

We have stayed in different hotels in Paris but this is our second time to stay in this hotel. We have recommended this hotel to our family and friends. Ideal location, wonderful staff, and everything about the hotel is just awesome! We will definitely stay here again.

Well trying to be objective i will cut things down and rate them:
1. Location : 5 stars. In the middle of everything. Really great location
2. Service: 2 stars . Apart from a very sweet girl the others we experiences have a Luis XV attitude. They need to remind themselves 2-3 times a day that they are working for the tourist industry. They also need to get more effective and less cynical.
3. Cleanliness: 5 Star. The cleaning ladies are doing a great job.
4. Room: 2 stars. Small and simple. The toilet has no space at all. If you are over 200 pounds better find an other hotel or you will get stuck between two walls when you sit on the toilette .
5. Common spaces: 1 star . Practically non existent. Or just say 25 square meters ( 250 sqf).
6. Value for money : 3 stars. Not too expensive though not cheap either for what you get.
So 18 divided to 6 gives us a mean of 3 Stars. A little above average!
Don't get too excited guys...

A group of us stayed in Paris at this hotel for two nights on our way to a river cruise. We were very impressed with the concierge's who were lovely and very helpful. The hotel is not far from the Champs Elysee so we could walk to attractions like the Louvre. Our rooms were lovely, with windows opening up,overlooking the street so we could look out and watch the crazy world of Paris traffic go by.
Our beds were comfortable, bathroom was small but clean. The room was small but we didn't need anything bigger anyway for two nights.
Continential breakfasts were lovely, the tables small but the staff were very attentive, clearing our tables immediately between courses. We also had the option of having a cooked breakfast. We couldn't ask for more.

Room Tip: Check the alarm or tv haven't been set by a previous naughty patron!

We spent two nights in the Duphot Suite at the quaint Hotel and when we arrived the main sitting area with the sofa bed had been made up into another bedroom for our eighteen year old grand daughter which was just perfect. The bathroom was large, clean and there was an ample supply of thick luxurious towels.
The beds themselves were adequate. A few more pillows would have been appreciated. Overall the suite was large, well maintained, very clean.
Breakfast was very good and the hotel was located very close to all of Paris's sights. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: The suites are pricey but fabulous!!!!

The hotel was delightful both inmaculate and charming in an ideal location. The staff from Justine, who carry our luggage herself to rapidly accommodate us, to the front desk clerks, who answered all our questions, made restaurant reservations, etc ,that we felt totally at home. The metro station is 50 meters away and the Wi-Fi worked perfectly in our room, the a/c was quiet and the breakfast staff was very warm and efficient
