“I stay here often”
Reviewed 17 March 2014

I have stayed at Novotel les Halles often when on business in Paris. For me travelling on my own, it is ideal as the hotel is very centrally situated, is walkable to all the main areas of interest and there are so many places of interest on the doorstep of the hotel and it is in a safe area.

I find staff most helpful and friendly and they are a great team. The rooms are comfortable, the hotel is clean - always - and breakfasts are excellent. However as in any hotel - you need to avoid peak times at breakfast so you don't need to queue.

I know there is work going on outside but this starts in the morning when guests are getting up anyway for breakfast and it stops late afternoon - so there's no problem about this. Renovations go on in every hotel and accommodation but owners try to make sure it doesn't affect guests as far as possible. People would complain if the hotel wasn't upgraded so - do they upgrade and have complaints or do they NOT upgrade to get other complaints?? The hotel can't win as far as some of the public is concerned.
I work in tourism and fully understand their situation. Roll on the new refurbishments and the new large gardens outside at Les Halles - and - my next visit!

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room in a quite area of the hotel if you want to avoid any noise eg from people gett...

Recently we stayed with our children in Novotel Les Halles. This is the third time we spent our holiday in this hotel. Hotel has ecellent position in the city, especially when someone travels with children. The Louvre is located 10 min on foot, there are few Metro stations arround the hotel, and of course very good direct connection with RER for Disneyland.
Hotel is very nice and clean and the stuff is ok. This time i can notice that the restarurant was closed in the evening and that there was not children menu for dinner. The service in the restarurant for brekfast was excellent.

The room was clean, functional and met our needs. The location of the hotel was perfect, allowing us to do what we wanted to do while we were in Paris. We thought that the breakfast was the highlight of the visit at the hotel. The only "problem" we experienced, not the fault of the hotel, was the noise in the morning caused by the local construction.

We just returned from a stay at the above mentioned hotel. The room was very nice. It was clean and spacious (surprisingly so for Europe). All of the people we encountered were gracious and tolerant of our non-French language. Most spoke English so we did not have difficulty conversing. That is until we went to check out. The desk clerk insisted we pay our bill in EU cash and after we left the hotel and had our bill translated into English, we discovered we had been charged for a breakfast that we did not have. We left early in the ,morning on our departure day and did not take time to eat breakfast at the hotel. There were other discrepancies on the bilI will not go into, so suffice it to say, "Be careful with your bill on checking out."

Room Tip: The rooms were not an issue. They were fine. It was the billing that I take exception to.

The Novotel lies next to one of the biggest train and subway stations of Paris, which in itself is amazing and a great starting point for exploring the city. They have been building around the hotel for quite a while now and are not yet finished, so you should be aware of that. We were, so that wasn't a problem for us. However, the hotel itself is terrible. The lobby and bar look absolutely great and problably were remodelled a short while ago. But the rooms were old and small and certainly not what you'd expect from a hotel like this. In dire need of renovations! What was most upsetting though was that while staying in our room at night we suddenly smelled fire, and sure enough, the floor outside was full of thick black smoke which made it impossible to see very far, and the fire doors were closed. We phoned the lobby, but they basically said 'No problem at all, fire department is already on its way.' We then knocked on all the doors on our floor to get people out through the staircase. A couple dozen hotel guests then had to wait outside the hotel while firefighters put out the fire in some storage room. Obviously, the fire wasn't the hotel's fault. But if the floor full of smoke, I'd think they would do something to alert guests and get them out safely. Or maybe have a fire alarm. We complained about this but never heard back.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for choosing the Novotel Paris Les Halles for your stay in Paris and for taking the time to share your experience on Tripadvisor.

I am very happy to hear you enjoyed our very central and convenient location.

I am really sorry to read that you did not fully enjoy your stay with us. Regarding the problems encountered, we are working on them to make sure we receive all of our clients the best way possible.

As far as the fire that took place during your stay last year in April, it did not happen within our walls. It happened in the building next to ours; this explains why the alarm did not go off. I can assure you that neither you nor the other clients were in any kind of danger.

I would love to speak to you directly if I may to explain further how the fire safety system works in our hotel. I remain at your disposal by email at h0785-am@accor.com . I would be more than happy to contact you over the phone you as well.

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused to you and yours.

Despite this experience, I sincerely hope that this has not altered the image of our establishment and of the brand Novotel and that you will consider staying with us again during your next visit to Paris.

Best regards,

Renata Ramos

I ve stayed just one night in Paris on this ocassion, and chosen this hotel mostly because of central and handy connection. ( Les Halles is one of the biggest metro train station with plenty of connections).
Pros:
central location
friendly staff at the reception
atmospheric piano bar

Cons
-narrow corridors and outdated design
-decor of the room was below the standard of other Novotel Hotels I have stayed.
-we asked non- smoking room but got smoking room, as others were unavailable and the smell was disturbing
- expensive considering the standard it offers

Room Tip: ask for the room facing street for the better view (
