Stayed here in mid-November 2013 at the recommendation of a friend who has stayed here over the years for a bi-annual medical conference in Paris. Missed the drama of staff strikes and bad service I read in other reviews - thankfully! We loved the superb location - walkable to all of old Paris and its sights, except perhaps the Eiffel Tower. But the Metro is just across the street for all longer distance sightseeing. Lovely area in the 6th (St. Germaine) with close proximity to shopping, restaurants, cafes and Le Bon Marche (which, in addition to elegant showrooms, has a very convenient ticket service for advance purchase of many Parisian ventures and sights).

Hotel is a classic Art Deco building beginning to show its fading glory although the reputed refurbishing appears to be coming soon according to other reviews here. Room was large with a king bed but plain. The bathroom was good sized and modernized with a nice bath/shower combo. Clean, comfy and quiet although we had no view as we were situated on the inner courtyard - but no city noise. The breakfast buffet was delightful with a vast offering of eggs, meats, cheeses, fruits, pastries and breads with self-serve multi-functional coffee machines to top it all off. Kept us going all day on our lengthy walks all over the city. Pleasant hosting staff and a large, pretty room offering views on the outside boulevards as you enjoy your morning repast.

Hotel front staff was both cordial and helpful, and bellboys were attentive to baggage and transportation needs. Concierges pleasantly offered their traditional services and were also additionally helpful with the computers in the business area. An expensive in-house brasserie with equally expensive drinks in the bar caused us to seek out local establishments for dinner and libations - not a problem. Would stay here again after the renovations provided we can afford it then!

Room Tip: Book a room with breakfast included - you won't be disappointed!

My husband and I went to Lutetia for our honeymoon. We were very excited, since it was my husband's first time in Paris. As soon as we arrived, no one came to help us with the bags, we had to climb the stairs carrying them ourselves. When we got to the room, it was unbeliavable: there were 2 beds (remember, we were on our honeymoon!!!), the room was minuscle and the air conditioner was not working, so we spent the whole night calling the concierge/reception to help us, and at 5AM someone appeared at our room to tell us that there was nothing to do about it. So, obviously, we asked to change rooms, and the only room available was in a superior category, which was not our problem, and even so, the hotel charged us the difference. After speaking with a hedious woman, Laura, supposedly the hotel manager, she affirmed that there was no negotiation and 'if you are not satisfied, we have a line of people waiting to stay at the hotel'!!! I literally started screaming of indignation and after this, she said she decided to speak with the hotel's director, who approved our tranfer non charged to the other room.
When we checked out, our breakfast (which was included!) was double charged.
As a result: my husband had a terrible impression of Paris and we are definitely never coming back to this hotel.... ever!

There is a lot to like about this hotel. It is extremely well managed and the staff are very accommodating ( other than a couple of rather surly concierges, who need to learn to smile ). Breakfast is really stunning - the best we had in 3 weeks in France. Beautiful fried eggs in a ramekin made to order ( I never knew fried eggs could taste so good ). All buffet items topped up regularly and tables cleared efficiently. Our room was spacious and lovely with views over Blvd Raspail. ( we were upgraded….our first room was rather pokey and not much larger than the bed ) Room servicing done seamlessly. My concern is with the bar off the foyer…the only area to sit in the hotel. This is rather awkward as you feel under pressure to buy a drink when you are having a casual or short meeting. I felt the price of drinks was exorbitant compared with nearby bistros, although worth the price in the evenings when jazz is performed. We found nothing to eat we could order on the bar food menu after coming back hungry after the opera…mostly olives etc. Overall a positive experience.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and book a larger room.

My daughter and I went to Paris for a short weekend trip. At our arrival the receptionist, Léa, suggested that we'd be upgraded since it was our first visit to the hotel! We got the "Paradise suite", complete with flowers, chocolate and a walk-in closet! Everything was absolutely lovely, impeccable service and friendly staff.

I took the family to Paris for a week. The kids and the granddaughter came separately. We went to Vienna first and arrived before them. I had ordered suites for the week and the staff was immediately warm and welcoming. We reviewed the rooms and flowered and stocked them up readying their arrival. Bottom line: this grand hotel treated us like honored guests. Our granddaughter was treated like Eloise at the Plaza. We entertained friends in their different restaurants and the concierge made sure that the kids got the inside action for all the sights.

They have a classic Brasserie where we had the most wonderful Seafood tower and a michelin starred restaurant that is par excellence.

Room Tip: high floors overlooking the Boulevard Raspail

We loved staying at this historic hotel (2nd time here). Our suite was very large & quite lovely if somewhat worn. Hotel staff were very efficient and accommodating. I hear that the hotel will be closing for renovation.
Definitely recommend.

We have stayed here many times over the last 15 years. The façade is noteworthy. The interior is like a museum--gorgeous. The rooms are beautiful, but slightly tired. Alas, the whole hotel will soon be closed for 3 years so it can be completely gutted. What a shame. If you are on your way to Paris, rush here before the closing.

Room Tip: Make sure you select (and pay for) a room facing the exterior--preferably toward the Eifel Tower.
