“Nice hotel with a very weird layout.”
Reviewed 9 June 2014 via mobile

First off. The positives. Hotel is in a fairly good location. I don't feel it is in the middle of Le Marais but it is close. The people working there are professional. Our room was clean and had a nice deck with a nice view. The breakfast was also very nice.
The negatives. This "hotel" is more like a group of converted apartment buildings with a central courtyard. Our room was in the farthest building on the top floor. In order to get your bags to your room is an act of god. Many steps and tough This guy drives like my grandma. cobblestone surface. Our 2 bedroom room was tiny tiny. The bathroom was also tiny even by european standards. It was very tough for three people to share the 2 bedroom room.

Not a 4 star hotel but adequate. Unremarkable hotel - with an interesting layout….several buildings surrounding a communal courtyard. In good weather the internal communal courtyard ( no gardens but potted plants and attractive setting) are fine as a lounge area but only if it was not too cold or raining. And In good weather the restaurant is located in this courtyard. So one would need to walk through the restaurant courtyard to reach one’s room in one of the four buildings.
The hotel has over 250 rooms and similar to U.S.hotels caters to large parties of business visitors. Three of the 5 days of our booking there were business conferences in various rooms in the 4 buildings and a party in the communal courtyard. Although others have recommended a courtyard room, beware ......partygoers in the courtyard can be noisy as well.
Our room was classed as standard. It was small but satisfactory. In the renovation of the older plumbing in the bathroom, the seal between the tub, the wall and the glass shower partition failed so a fair amount of water puddled on the floor after each shower. Reported to the staff, it was addressed but unfortunately failed to solve the problem. Thank goodness for the large absorbent towels.
Breakfasts buffets were adequate (20 Euros per person). They catered to an international clientele so had a variety ( rice and accompaniments, meat and cheese and bread, hardboiled eggs) but probably failed to meet anyone’s expectations. I had scrambled eggs ( adequate) and bread (small baguette - wonderful) and a container of yogurt. Maybe like most buffets it provides quantity but not quality.
As far as the location it is actually in the 11th A ( not the Marais,). I liked the location although 2 of our 4 member group thought the street “sketchy”. It is walking distance to the Pompidou centre and Place des Vosges and the Bastille ( and the market there). And the Monoprix and BHV and St Paul’s Village. We found several lovely restaurants in the 4th A. near by. There is a metro stop near by (Metro 8) to reach the Eiffel Tower. You’ll need to change trains or find other transportation for the other popular sites…..Unless you like walking, and we did so we just walked.
One expects in a multi- lingual setting that you occasionally have problems. And we did. The breakfast buffet could only be charged to one’s room. There was a communication issue so we were charged for 6 breakfast buffets instead of 4. (120 euros nested of 80 ) At check out we were told by a considerate employee that although he understood the error there was nothing he could do but take my email address and promise to correct the error. So far unresolved.
The hotel served its purpose but I would not recommend or return.

Room Tip: Can be noisy regardless of location. In the courtyard there are business activities or parties, and...

Reception is rather small and can be very busy during peak times, so be prepared to wait a while. Rooms are very nice and ours included a mini bar, oven and micro wave. Breakfast is a nice Buffet with various options. Not too far from major tourist attractions and easy access to Metro...

Lovely hotel - Unusual layout of several buildings surrounding a communal courtyard. Our room was classed as "small" yet it contained a small kitchenette area complete with hob, microwave & dishwasher!!. Very clean, refreshing decor we had a very comfortable stay. The staff were courteous and very helpful, nothing was to much trouble & they spoke perfect English. The only downside is a little expensive in the hotel - 2 coffee's approx £8.00 and the lift took FOREVER! Hotel is approx 4 metro stops from centre of Paris. Metro 2 mins walk from Hotel.

Breakfast buffet excellent; varied choices to cater to tastes of international visitors. Hotel has accessibility issues (a number of need-to-negotiate short runs of steps have no handrail) but their incomparable bellman Charles always appeared at my elbow to help me. The recent review by Svaine says it for me.

Room Tip: If accessibility is an issue for you, make sure that your room, even if it's at ground level, ca...

This hotel is in the Marais district of Paris and is an easy walk to Place de la Bastille and Place des Vosges. The beds are very comfortable, the bathrooms great and the air conditioning worked very well. There is a small fitness club. The staff was always helpful and nearly all spoke fine English.

Room Tip: The rooms are off a large courtyard in the rear so there is no issue with street noise.

Unfortunately we were off to a bad start. Our booking requested a 2nd or 3rd floor room but we were given a 5th floor room obviously not often used. The air conditioning unit cover lay on the floor and the safe had no cover to its batteries. On checking in, our credit card details taken for a deposit of 100 euros, by a receptionist from the card, were declined. We learned later from the Credit company that they had been incorrectly noted. The map to find the garage was difficult to follow and took us three attempts before succeeding. After this things improved. We were given a room on the 3rd floor which was clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were fine but the menu in the restaurant was limited and unchanging. The only lounge was a small area in the reception hall. In good weather the internal open gardens were suitable as a lounge area but only if it was not too cold or raining. To our surprise the hotel had over 250 rooms and was not so much a Parisian hotel but more a cosmopolitan one, suitable for large parties of conference visitors etc. By the end of the week we found it comfortable, clean and pleasant. It was actually placed just north of the Marais area and suitable for walks to the Pompidou centre and Place des Vosges but not for walking to areas further afield such as the Champs Elysees.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing inwards to the internal garden area.
