“Bad service, tricky employees...awful tiny rooms with holes on the sheets and towels”
Reviewed 14 April 2014

Upon arrival we were received at least politely...the person at the front desk, explained us the location of the room and the basics...he also explained us the schedules of the breakfast and we asked if this was included...he say yes, of course...
When we arrive to the room we were shocked to see the size of this...real real tiny...and the clerk forget to explain that the whole floor was under renovation or construction...so we were listening bangings on nails and walls and all sort of noises from 5 am and ahead...
The "breakfast" is just a coffee, and a piece of bread (with those little butter and jams cases)...and on the fourth day the manager called us and told us that breakfast was not included and that we own them 52 Euros, and even when they told us that breakfast was included we have to pay...he was "kind" and give us a "discount" of 50%...and "by the way" you have another charge of 13 Euros for a phone call...a 5 minutes call...when I told him that according to the board, it was stated the cost of .70 cts per call, he say that as we called to the airport it was out of the city...so we have to pay that too...no discounts this time...
Well, what can I say? Holes on the sheets...holes in the carpets, there were 4 lights bulbs, only ONE worked...(it took 5 days to fix 2 more bulbs), only two employees (the maid who was also the one who served breakfast and a guy who speak some spanish) were the only two kind persons in that place...we later find out that at three stations by metro (Galieni) there was a BIG commercial centre where you can buy everything at a better prices (one croissant and coffee for 1.90 Euros...and GOOD coffee) against the 7 Euros in a tiny little table served in a breakfast area of 5 by 5 sq. ft...there's a big supermarket "Auchat" where you will find wines from 1.50 Euros to whatever you decide to spend, including good champagne, along with restaurants not over valued and GOOD, also ATM's and everything we suppose to find in a commercial centre..transportation to hotel can be by metro or bus...but buses runs every 25 or 30 minutes, so metro is the choice...but if you go by bus, you'll see an open market (Flea Market style) with all sort of things on sale...
But Paris was lovely...some people were very helpful (specially when you address them in their language)...but that hotel it was a new experience and we tried to take it like that and enjoy the experience of being there...when we come back we decide to pay a little more and went to a Holiday Inn...ha ha ha, nice and clean with more room to move...
But my opinion will be to NOT reccommend places like that hotel, if you don't have the right attitude, it can really ruin your vacation...thanks God, I have a wife who stands by me at all sort of situations, and even when Air France lost our luggage for 3 full days, the hotel was a s...it hole, and the weather wasn't as weather channel said...it was our anniversary trip...and what the hell...Paris is the PLACE TO BE for a romantic trip... :-D
The hotel is managed for persons from Pakistan or India or a place like that, and we are NOT staying again in a place like that, were all that matters for them is "get me your money and get a hell out of here"...we rather stay from now on in a well knowed places like big hotel chains...
For shopping souvenirs go to Trocadero metro station...you will find many black guys very very very persistant on selling you key rings with eiffel tower at 5 for one Euro among other things...but they have much better deals that the regular shops...and if you want a shop, go toward the Notre Dame church, along the river street, opposite from the church, and close to the metro station, you will find a souvenir shop with a Mexican flag on the ceiling, the manager is a guy from India or so...but is real funny and he'll give you the BEST deals ever he is in the absolut bargaining mood... he is so good that we plan to bring HIM some presents from Cancun Mexico (where we live) when we go back...because WE ARE going back to Paris...10 days were not enough...and you can not miss Versailles Palace...and I can go on like this for hours...but well...that´s it, folks...I have pics of the sh..ty hotel in my other lap top...I'll try to post them later if I can, so you´ll have an idea about what I'm talking about...
Cheers and Best Regards to all of you... :-)

Room Tip: No help there...if you are a big sized person...run from there...you have to go upstairs to floor on...

stayed at hibiscus hotel with my sister last october for 3 nights .
the room price within budget , small abu clean room , nice room service , helpful staff , the photos in the reviews are really old the room we stayed was well painted and renovated so as the bathroom
nothing extraordinary about this hotel but its location, it is near to the republique metro station , lots of cafes and restaurants to have breakfast in it as we choose not to have our breakfast in the hotel so we can discover the surrounding area .

i will stay here again if i am travelling in a tight budget

Hotel staff were surly. Hotel stairs covered in dirty carpet, and rather dangerous to negotiate. No offer of help from staff with suitcase as my husband struggled upstairs with it (her is 71 years old!) Towels were hard, grey and thoroughly unpleasant. A request for more, nicer ones was responded with a grunt; next day we were supplied with two more hard, grey, unpleasant towels! Room was dark, and decorated in dark, dismal colours. If staff had been a little more friendly and responded to our 'bonjour' or 'bon soir' with a smile/verbal response, rather than a blank, unfriendly stare, it would have made our stay more pleasant. This of course did not happen.

We had read horror stories of other people's stays here but while we were here we found a budget hotel which seemed clean with very few frills. The rooms were cleaned everyday with fresh towels laid out.

The breakfast is contiental but nice and although the waitress seemed a bit aloof, but when i asked for directions, she couldn't have been nicer. We were on the fifth floor and the lift was small bur workable, the shower cubicle was very tiny but the water was hot and it was reasonable powerful! The only problem that we had was with the only one socket by the door near the floor. Also there were no tea and coffee making facilities - but we had been pre warned and brought our own kettle.

At the prices we paid I don't think we could have asked for anything more

Firstly photos of the reception belong to the hotel next door.
The carpet on the stairs leading to the lift was the most disgusting filthy thing I've ever seen in my life. Followed by that famous smell or urine in the lift. The decor in the matchbox they called our room was also a joke. Wooden flooring fitted by a amateur. The long pillow to share had there trademark smell & dark brown stains. The toilet was so close to the wall the seat was touching the wall. The single chair that you couldn't pull from under the table due to no room was collapsed in the middle. Ohhh and when we complained the owner thought we where mad because he has fitted the new shower that leaked. I think I'd rather sleep on the streets with the tramps.

This was supposed to be a surprise 50th birthday present for my wife. What a disappointment this hotel was. Where do I begin? To start off with, only 1 of the lights in the room worked and despite asking several times they were never sorted. One bulb had shattered and when the owner tried to fix it he was electrocuted. The room was so small it was difficult to move around the room. The toilet was wedged hard up against the wall meaning anyone with a body mass index slightly over average would have trouble using it. The shower cubicle was so small you had to be a contortionist to use it. There were bare wires in a connection box at the back of the wardrobe. Breakfast was a cup of tea or coffee and a croissant. We arrived half way through breakfast and they had run out. The carpet had worn out on the stairs so they replaced it with a piece of cardboard. The single waitress at breakfast was rude, I asked for a clean cup as mine was dirty and all she did was point to another cup on another table. The lift was so noisy it constantly woke us up during the night. All I can say is you have been warned, do not stay here. Read the other reviews as they all say a similar thing.

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel from this one.

Having stayed in more than one 2-star Parisian hotel, I can say that this one is terrible. All 2-star Parisian hotels are tiny, so the size is not the problem. This hotel is filthy. The lobby smells, and so did the room. The curtains on the windows were dirty and stained - I didn't even want to touch them. The coverlet on the bed was so filthy that I took it off and never touched it again. The bathroom was mouldy and smelled like it. There wasn't even free wifi - you have to pay by the hour, and the receptionist is extremely reluctant to make change for a 10 Euro bill. We made reservations for an airport shuttle, which never showed up, and we were forced to call a taxi at the last minute. The neighborhood is Republique, which I didn't realize is a slightly seedy neighborhood of Paris, particularly after dark, and it's an extremely noisy neighborhood early in the morning. The only positive thing about the entire hotel is that there is an excellent bakery across the street on rue Yves Toudic (do not even consider eating breakfast in the hotel).
