This is our regular place to stay when we are in Paris. Easy to reach from Gare du Nord - we always travel to Paris on Eurostar - just change at Republique for Rue des Boulets…then a short walk to the hotel…you can even buy Metro tickets on the Eurostar train from the buffet car……why can't you buy London Tube tickets when going from Paris to London???? I reckon it's 'cos Boris Johnson is embarrassed that London Tube tickets cost nearly 3 times the price of Paris metro ticket!!!!
Grand Hotel Francais is very handy for Gare de Lyon…and we were travelling on to Annecy from there ( a wonderful place to visit - Lake Annecy is stunning).
The staff at the hotel were, as ever very welcoming….as it was our wedding anniversary on the day we arrived …they kindly upgraded us…..and what a lovely room it was! - room 41 - extremely comfortable bed with a super breakfast the next morning - the waitress refilled any of the breakfast items that ran down toute suite!!!
The hotel is near some really nice eating places…we had our wedding anniversary dinner in Chez Mamy - our favourite restaurant.
We also stayed at Grand Hotel Francais on our way back from Annecy….not far from the hotel is a little supermarket where you can pick up provisions for a picnic lunch - we went to The Tuileries gardens for ours!….we always enjoy the Baton Mouches boat trip down the Seine and we found a stunning view of The Eiffel Tower at The Trocadero. Dinner that night was at Les Cocottes not far from the Pont d'Alma.
A really lovely time was had in Paris and a very reliable hotel like Grand Hotel Francais certainly helps to make it so!!!!

We went to this hotel because according to our budget and consulting trip advisor, it sounded fine....
First, the ubication is not the gratest, ir has a subway near but we saw other hotels in better areas and in similar prices, second, its tremendously small, they say all the hotels in Paris aré like this , but we saw others that were a bit bigger....
The breakfast is fine
The service is fine but one time the cleaning lady wouldnt get out of the elevator with her things so i had to use the stairs.....
The view was terrible....
Cleaning..fine....

OOK, let’s face facts, hopefully, you have come to Paris to see the city and stay in your hotel room. So long as that is the case, Grand Hotel Francais is fine.

The positives:
• it is reasonably located - it is not near the centre, but is close enough for the walk to be OK, and is near a good number of metro stations.
• the shower is quite good!
• the staff are friendly and helpful.
• the rooms are well presented.

But, the negatives:
• the rooms are small.
• breakfast is poor.
• yes there is some road noise, but this is Paris!!

But, as I say, you have not come here to stay in your hotel room, so provided that is the case, you’ll be OK.

4 of us stayed here for 3 nights, primarily based on the TA reviews. This is a good area of Paris to stay in, there are not a great amount of tourists, it's quiet, with lots of restaurants. The Place de la Nation is several blocks away with many Metro lines. The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. Certainly would stay again. As mentioned by others, the rooms are small, but clean and modern.
The river cruise with dinner, arranged by the hotel, was a great way to see Paris from another perspective. Get there early ( 1/2 hour before the noted time), get seated at the best table, and enjoy the dinner longer. Take Metro Line 1 to Concorde.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the side street, extra quiet.

Great place to stay, close to Metro or a nice walk to Bastille.
Staff are very friendly and helped us with everything from making confirmations for us, sending our postcards and giving us advice on where to eat.
They didn't mind that we only speak English.

This is a nice hotel in a good location. It's few minutes walk from two different metro station on different lines so you've got loads of options. Close enough to walk into the historic part of the town as well.

Rooms are a bit small, but who goes to Paris to sit in their hotel room?

If you want large and luxury, with hotel restaurants, then you can pay for it elsewhere, but this centrally located hotel is value for money with a clean and comfortable room and absolutely quality service. The staff are friendly, helpful, and go out of their way to make sure you have what you need plus more. Whilst I have no other experiences to compare it to, should I return to this will definitely be at the top of my list to come back to. Outstanding service - Thank you!
