Mercure Paris Arc de Triomphe Etoile
Ranked #808 of 1,804 Hotels in Paris
Reviewed 2 March 2014

I can only confirm that the rooms are, to parisian standards, large and well maintained, and mine had great walk in shower with rainshowerhead. There was complementary coffee and tea and bottled water in the room and an empty minibar that you can stock with things from the ground floor, or (much cheaper) from next doors' Monoprix supermarket, or the shops and open air market accross the street. Personnel was very nice.
I had never before stayed in this area, but I really liked it. There is a daily market accross the street that is much better and authentic than rue Cler. When arriving from Gare du Nord you can fetch the 43 bus that stops accross the street stop Ternes-Mac Mahon (a taxi will set you some 13€ back) or if arriving from Montparnasse there is the 92 bus which arrives around the corner.

The only thing going for this hotel is it's location, especially if you are in Paris for a shopping experience. You are close to everything you might think of buying in Paris.
As for the hotel, it is a 3 star, which is being rated as 4 star, mainly for the location. I never quite figured out how mercure gets away with this, is their a official rating system in France or you can rate the hotel as you like?
Small rooms, average breakfast, basic service levels at the reception, basically the person handling the reception in the evening could almost not be there, he does not seem to know anything about the area or the hotel!! And yes, the noise level from the street is incredible, please choose a room away from the street.

Room Tip: Good location especially for a shopping spree, during the sales in Paris. Choose a room away from th...

Dear Guests,

We would like to thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Tripadvisor after your recent stay in our hotel the Mercure Paris Arc de Triomphe Etoile.

It is true that we have a very nice location in a typical Parisian quarter with plenty of shop and restaurants nearby.

Regarding our 4 star rating, this is delivered by an agency certify by the state, and we assure you that we comply with all requirements for this classification.

Concerning the person in the reception not being present and not being able to inform you about the area and the hotel, this absolute not normal and it does not correspond to our service. Is it possible to contact me directly by e-mail at h0372-gm@accor.com, in order to give us some details about your stay so we can understand what happened and so we can take the respective measures?

Looking forward to hear from you soon, we thank you for staying with us and we hope that you will give us a second chance. We will do our best to make of your next stay, a very nice one.

Nice pleasant rooms, normal standard for price, not great views but 5mins walk from the Eiffel Tower and Seine river and 1min from metro. Only complaint was 1 night when lifts were extremely busy (as only 2 in hotel) and we had to wait 20mins to get down from our room to reception.

The location of this hotel is excellent, within walking distance of many of the major sites and easy to access other transportation. It was clean and very well maintained. The rooms were very quiet - I rarely heard any of the street sounds beyond the occasional police siren. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast is way over priced. There are several good choices within walking distance at a much lower price.
