Fraser Suites Le Claridge Champs-Elysees

The hotel is wonderfully positioned on the Champs Elysees. We stayed in a studio apartment facing the courtyard. It was absolutely perfect, quiet and very spacious. The staff are polite and helpful. The metro is a few metres away and taxi's are easy to catch from outside the hotel. The Paul Cafe a few doors away is a wonderful convenience for the freshest array of delicious bread. Restaurants are plentiful. The markets are well worth a visit especially as the apartments do have facilities for self catering.

Galeries La Fayette's food hall is sensational and a foodie's heaven.

Montmartre is an interesting visit with lovely bakeries and restaurants to choose from.

We used the Green Shuttle for our transfers, they obviously took this seriously as the car that took us to the airport (Euro 60) aircon wasn't functioning which was very uncomfortable.

The 5 day metro pass worked well and the commuters on the metro are a whole lot friendlier than London's. Musicians play and sing at the stations which adds a real charm to the entire Paris trip.

Paris is a lot more affordable than what we were expecting.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the courtyard are quieter

Stayed here twice, both 5d/4n as Paris was our arrival and departure city. Excellent location, breakfast can be as cheap as Paul or as expensive as Fouquet's. Groceries can be bought at nearby Monoprix, while treats from Laduree are just across the street.

Of course, Louis Vuitton's flagship store is also very near, while more branded stuff in Saint-Honore are just a short taxi ride away. By the way, taxis are plenty; never had to wait more than 5 minutes to get one.

Since Le Claridge is more of a serviced apartment then a hotel, don't expect the service to be top-notch even if the price is (paid around 500 euros a night). The doorman also serves as the bellboy who helps with luggage, but cannot speak English so we had a bit of miscommunication with regard to our checkin. Funny thing was, the bellboys from Marriott (just beside Claridge) approached us and thought we were checking-in with them.

There is also no full-service concierge similar to NY as they can only get tickets to select shows such as Moulin Rouge (I wanted to ask for help getting David Guetta tickets but they couldn't).

Nevertheless what they lack in service they make up with space. Their 1-bedroom apartment can easily accomodate 4 adults and 2 children. Unfortunately they only have 1 shower and 1 toilet so you would have to wait for your turn. The toilet and the shower are in separate rooms so that makes things more efficient.

Overall we would probably stay here again if we go to Paris with the family. Couples who are in Paris for their honeymoon might want to go to other hotels who have better expertise with those.

My family stayed at the Fraser Suites Le Claridge in April 2012 and whilst the location is outstanding, the hotel itself is run down and in need of a refurbishment. Given the rate we were paying and the fact it was on the Champs Elysees, we were not expecting full blown luxury however the hotel seems to miss some of the basics which are, in my opinion, essentials regardless. If you don't mind the three star living arrangements, the location is five star and you can't beat it if you are travelling with children as we were.

We stayed in the three bedroom penthouse which had a gorgeous view from the balcony however the apartment itself was disappointing. Peeling paint, light fittings and switches that didn't work, a broken extension dining table that verged on dangerous and a bathroom with no mirror and tiles falling off the wall. Small things that make a big difference.

On the upside, the staff are fantastic and extremely helpful. We had a problem with the TV system when we first arrived (what a surprise!) and we had servicemen in the apartment within 10 minutes to rectify the problem. The rooms were in general clean and tidy as were the public usage areas. We didn't use the breakfast facilities as the apartment had a kitchenette and the Monoprix up the road kept us stocked with breakfast supplies.

Whatever you do don't pay the published rate for the rooms. Ours was somewhere in the region of 3000 euro!!! We paid at least a quarter of that and if the location hadn't been so superb we would have felt it was a bit of a ripoff given the condition of the room.

We stayed 4 nights at the le Claridge in May 2012 and the location is truly superb. Our room facing the Champs elysees was a little noisy but it did not bother us much as the view from it was wonderful.... we could see the "action" from our balcony . A little of the Eiffel Tower was also visible. We could walk everywhere but the metro station is close, plenty of buses as well as taxis.
Would definitely return to this hotel!

The Fraser Suites Le Claridge was a very good option for us, since we were travelling in 3 adults and a toddler. Having a small kitchenette was perfect, and we ended up having breakfast and a light supper on the apartment. There is a good supermarket half block from the hotel, called Monoprix, and also Paul Boulangerie, Starbucks coffee, a Marks&Spencer deli market. So, in rainy days or when it was better to stay home for the meals, we had several choices. The space is very generous, it's really an apartment, there was plenty space for all of us + luggage + toys + strollers, and so on. Comfortable and huge bed on the bedroom, and a sofa bed very good on the living room. The only thing that I didn't like was the bathroom, which is divided - one room for the toilet and other room for bath and sink. But it's manageable, although not very practical. Lots of closets, so clothes were hanging properly. Corteous and helpful staff. Security at the front door was good, even at odd hours. Elevators run to the floors only with key code. Of course the rooms are not as new, but maintenance was good and cleaning almost spotless. Location can't be beaten in my opinion. Having a toddler along is easier if you can walk around and return to the hotel when needed with no hassle. We used taxi only to and from the airport, and to catch a tour. Metro station is very near and convinient. There is free wifi on the apartment. Our apartment faced the Champs Elysèes Avenue and was very quiet. I strongly recommend the Le Claridge, and will be back for sure.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with the Champs Elysèes view, it's quiet because of good insulation and it's...

The hotel was clean, had a perfect location, had enough space for 6 of us to stay in one apartment, had a kitchen, laundry room and staff was nice. These all made the stay really good. Was surprised and pleased to find the apartment so quite, considering the location directly on Champs-Elysees. Our Nespresso machine was broken and it took our entire stay to sort it out. But as an alternative, we went to the breakfast room and got a jug of coffee that we brought back to the room. A little bit of an bother, but at least we got coffee.
Three things stick out in my mind as negatives to our stay.
1. Because the taxis are hard to trust in Paris, the hotel requests that you order your cabs through them and wait in the lobby for the driver. Each time we did this, we had nothing but trouble. The taxi couldn't find a park so they called the front desk. We'd then walk out to road and it was always unclear who was the "called" taxi and who was scamming us. In the end we just went across the street to the taxi rank and managed it ourselves.
2. A staff member recommended a restaurant to us that was horrible! It wasn't just that the food wasn't good or service was bad, because actually the man at the restaurant was nice. Food was bad. The bid miss by the hotel staff was I requested a special place for a family dinner, not super high end, but nice and good quality. We ended up going for a wild taxi ride out of our way to a part of town that wasn't desirable and found ourselves dropped off in front of a dirty, tacky bar-type restaurant! I almost didn't get out of the car and our two kids were worried. The disappointment was in the complete lack of understanding of our request! A night ruined for sure.
3. The apartment furniture in the lounge room was horrible. Foam sofas that squashed. Carpets stained. The kitchen was nice but didn't have enough utensils and pans.

Again, this was a great location with the basics covered. But for the cost and having to pay in full up front, it wasn't amazing.

This hotel is 3 star in quality but is in a 4 star location.

On the plus side is the central location, size of room (for Paris that is) and the small kitchenette.

Also, the staff is courteous and attentive.

On the minus side, the maintenance of this property is not up to par. Stained carpet in the room vestibule, nicks and chips in plaster, holes in doors, paint peeling on baseboards and bottom of doors. The drain of my bathtub was stuck in the open position. Its a good thing I like a shower because it would have been impossible to take a bath. The drain plug lifter of the bathroom sink was missing the top piece to pull the rod up. Just lifting and closing it with the small steel rod is not very practical.

I did mention this in their internet feedback request but did not get any acknowledgement.

If it wants to be truly a 4 star venue, the rooms need much TLC.

As it stands its 3 stars and expensive for what it is.

Will probably give it a try again because of the location.
