“Excellent in their upgrade service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 May 2014

After a bad experience in a standard room during my last stay (clogged shower, couldn't shower in my room, I was suggested to take a shower in someone else's room after they'd left!!), I wrote a mail expressing my concern about having at least a working shower for the price I had to pay.

I had an almost immediate reply, expressing their apologies for the last time and they offered me a free upgrade to a superior room. These rooms are really excellent! Very clean and spacious, and no complaints at all about the room. Excellent action in changing my opinion on your hotel!

A small note of comment: breakfast trays for cheese and fruit and so on were mostly empty, no glasses for the juice, the breakfast accomodation juist seems too small to handle the morning crowd

This is a good hotel well up to the usual high standards of the Mercure chain. It's in a very good position within walking distance of the usual tourist attractions. We had three rooms for our family group, two terrace rooms and a superior twin. All were very good although the balcony rooms are a little smaller due to the balcony. There is a lift to all floors but if you are at all claustrophobic it's quite a small one. Breakfast is available at the hotel but if you prefer there are several places a short walk away for around € 9 for a continental and € 14 for an English. For evening dinner we chose an Italian restaurant called Pompei and really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is great, really friendly Italian staff made it a great night. There's a super British pub on the corner just down the road to the left. Again great atmospheres and not too noisy.
To summarise, a good hotel which we would use again if we visited Paris.

There's no hiding the fact that the rooms in this hotel are small but it's central Paris so it wasn't really a shock. However, whilst small they are very nice rooms, very well appointed. The room service was pricey but tasty. For me though it's the location of this hotel that's the best thing about it, it's very central, it's near the mainline and subway train stations, close to the Champs Elysee, good shops and restaurants and so on. For that reason alone I would be tempted to stay here again!
Be warned, the rooms have aircon but they don't turn it on during the winter. I stayed in late March when the temperature was 20C and even though the heating was off I was still too warm. I asked reception and they confirmed they don't put the aircon on until the summer. A note to the hotel - you might want to rethink this, if you have aircon it should be available all year round so people can decide themselves what temperature they want their rooms to be.

Dear Sir, Dear Madam,

This small word to thank you for your comments. You appreciate the ideal location of our hotel, the sympathy of our team, the cleanliness of our rooms and we are delighted.
Concerning the air conditioning, the started is made in spring and cut at the end of autumn.
In winter there is only a heating in rooms but you can adjust the temperature individually.
Yours,
Barbara Naud

I stayed her for one night whilst on business. The room was tiny and I mean like a box room for E170 and breakfast was not included. The rooms and bathroom were clean.
The reception staff were friendly but when I asked for an iron and iron board (none in the rooms) they couldn't find one !
I'm glad I only stayed for one night. Would not return.

I stayed here for my first trip in Paris for the Half Marathon, needless to say I was given top advice from the receptionist who was more than happy to explain where to go and when to avoid queues and get the best of my weekend in le pari! I had a top floor room with a roof terrace which was fantastic. Unfortunately the room had a smokey air to it, even though I asked for a non smoking room, but it wasn't too much of an issue. The lift to the top floor could be bigger, same goes for the room, but Paris is renown for its smaller rooms unless you're willing to pay top dollar. The service was absolutely outstanding and I highly recommend staying here to anyone who hasn't visited paris before, or is like myself and travelling alone. It is located near metro stations at Concorde which will take you almost anywhere in Paris. The location is also quiet so not too much traffic noise during the evenings but close enough to major roads not to feel distant. To top off the stay if you're anything like me and eat constantly whilst travelling then there is a bakery across the road where I highly recommend grabbing un baguette or un croissant for your short walk to the metro and beyond. Explore Opera on a Saturday to see its true hustle and bustle or if you enjoy quieter times of the day then go there on a Sunday or weekday. You won't be disappointed at the Mercure. Can't wait to go again!
