We picked up a hire car at Charles De Gualle airport and required a hotel that was relatively easy to locate via car and had parking available. We also wanted to stay somewhere that was not over priced (difficult to find in Paris), good quality and close to the romantic Montemartre district. We were more than satisfied with this hotel which met all of our needs. After the stressful task of driving in city Paris, we located the hotel without too much difficulty and were relieved to find secure parking easily accessible right next door to the hotel (20 euros per day). The rooms were very clean and adequate. We were delighted to find the staff were very helpful and welcoming. Easy access to the romantic Montmartre district and nearby Metro stop and supermarket. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel as there are so many places to eat and a local supermarket that are far more cost effective. We really felt this hotel was very good value for money in this beautiful city.

This a relatively modern hotel and was clean and tidy. After some variable hotel experiences in Paris in the past, this time we opted for a modern 'chain' hotel for a more predictable quality of stay and we weren't disappointed. The metro station just outside the hotel has lines going direct to the Arc de Triomphe, the other end of the Champs Elysees and the Gare du Nord. The Moulin Rouge is two minutes walk away and Sacre Coeur about 15 minutes walk. There are also a number of restaurants and cafes close by.

The area beyond the Moulin Rouge, for a couple hundred yards, does have a few sex shops and 'shows', but these wouldn't put us off staying here again. The area does not feel unsafe and this stretch of road could be avoided to walk anywhere.

Although this hotel is in no way original or interesting, it does offer a good combination of value, quality and convenient location. We would stay here again without hestation.

This hotel is in a great location, around the corner from the Moulin Rouge and close to lots of restaurants. I stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of a tour. The travel agent requested room with a disabled bathroom. However on arrival, the hotel did not have any rooms with disabled bathrooms. I found this amazing as all other Mercures I have stayed have have these facilities. Staff were helpful but I would not stay at this hotel again. The Ibis next door had rooms with disabled bathrooms.

We wanted a reasonable hotel with good public transport links into the city, not too far out with a car park close by. This Hotel fitted the bill. Situated within a few mins walk of the Moulin Rouge, the Metro and bus links and adjacent to a public underground car park, it seemed perfect for us. Took us 17 mins to get out of Paris by car. Car Park was expensive as you can imagine, 60euros for 3 days. Hotel was clean and rooms were what you would expect for this class of accomodation. There is a bar in the hotel and restaurant serving breakfast. However, we had breakfast in one of the numerous bars a few minutes away at half the cost. We purchased a 2 day deal on open top bus tours which go very close to the hotel. This provided all the city transport we needed, apart from one ride on the Metro. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room, something we find very useful. Internet cafe next door, cheaper than using the hotel services. About 20 mins easy walk to the Sacre-Coeur. Plenty of nearby restaurants, some expensive, some reasonable.

My wife and I decided to do a little "long weekend" hop over to Paris. The vacation package we purchased offered two hotel options and we selected the Mercure Montmartre. All in all glad we did. The hotel is clean, modern, the rooms were an adequate size. Our room on the 7th floor had a view of the Eiffel tower in the distance... very cool to open the curtains in the morning and be greeted with this site.

Several reviewers commented that Montmartre can be seedy even downright dangerous... I have to say I never experienced that evening in the evening walking back to the hotel from the metro station - which by the way is very close to the Hotel (Metro Place de Clichy) - literally a 2 min walk. The trip to the Arc de Triomphe (Charles de Gaule Etoile) will take about 10 mins.

Breakfast buffet was very good but word of caution - this hotel caters to tour groups and one morning we had just sat down and within seconds the entire breakfast room was flooded with tour patrons - easily 50-60. All getting breakfast at the same time. I agree with the other reviewers - get there early and you will enjoy an uncrowded relaxing breakfast.

Wireless internet worked well - but it is not free 9,90 euro a day. Still alot cheaper than some places i've stayed in Europe.

No iron in the room... (seperate ironing room on the 5th floor)
No coffee maker in the room (I've rarely seen this in Europe)

Some very nice restaurants right around the hotel with reasonable prices compared to more central Paris locations. Options include a great Italian place, tons of cafes even Japanese...

In summary, Montmartre is a cool area but you are somewhat removed from the central attractions of Paris - albeit with the metro its not that far and you are paying less than if you are down by the Louvre, Champs Elysees etc. If Montmartre is your choice we would highly recommend the Mercure.

Modern 3 stars hotel, close to the Sacre-Coeur. A 2 minutes walk from the closest Metro station (place de Clichy) on line 13 and line 2 one takes you right to the Champs Elysees and les Invalides. The other one goes to l'Arc de Triomphe or le Pere Lachaise cemetary.
Rooms are quite comfy and all have a safety deposit box. The bathtubs are huge by french standards. Staff is friendly and the included breakfast is decent. I would not hesitate to go back there.
