The rooms are nicely decorated and un good size for Paris. Location is excellent for shopping in the area near Opera and Gallery Lafayette. Nice lobby with free wifi. We had connecting rooms on 6th floor, it was very good.

Dear Juan Pablo G,

Thank you for your comments. We shared with our team your positive note concerning our welcoming staff. On the other hand, our restaurant manager is taking the appropriate actions in order to improve the breakfast service. Your feedback is always important to us to improve the quality of our service. Several of us were running in the Paris marathon and stayed here, a very classic and sumptuously styled hotel close to the Place de L'Opera. Metros are all around and we walked in 15 mins or so to the marathon start on Champs Elysee. Sitting down in the lobby having a drink is restful and relaxing especially if you like tasteful, old fashioned couches and decor. The lifts are brilliant and charming. Breakfast is expensive at 25 euro and even before a marathon probably not worth it.

I left my keys in a drawer and they sent them on to me after initially not being able to find them. Staff are friendly.

I think our firm got us a deal on the price, we found it good value and overall I would recommend this hotel.

Comfortable rooms. Adequate breakfasts. Good location near the opera and transit hub. 2 nits. 1) Many early morning arrivals from sleep deprived guests while check in is at 3 pm. Could have more inviting lounge area for people to regroup and collect themselves before going out without checking into the room. 2) breakfast Coffee service was each person going up to an expresso machine and getting his own beverage. True you got the choice of 6 types of coffee or tea. More efficient to have a server go around with standard coffee and refills and leave the machine for those who want a latte or espresso.
Evolved from a grumpy sleepy intro to an appreciation of the comfort of our room.

The structural/decorative quality of the hotel lobby, restaurants, rooms were all very nice. Better than most Marriotts. But most of the people we encountered just didn't seem to enjoy being there - and I don't think it was just the Parisienne "tude". At check in - no smiles. We had reserved 2 rooms - one king one d/d. As Marriott Silver VIPs this is suppose to be something that is guaranteed. We were given 2 kings. When pushed, they gave us a room on a different floor, but when our daughters entered it - someone else was already in the room. Really? How does that happen in the current day? So back down, and they gave us a d/d on our floor, but smaller and facing the alley vs. street but they still called it an elite room. The information they handed out at check in was wrong. We paid extra to be on a higher floor, and the breakfast, and the happy hour is included. All of the printed times on the check in information form were wrong, as compared to what they told me. I has to take notes. When I asked for the WSJ as our paper choice, front desk had no clue what I was talking about, and I showed them what the form said and they got it. When we went to 8th floor lounge during the noted times to grab a glass of wine - nothing there. The greeters at the breakfast area were mixed - some pleasant some cold as stones. Same observation for the concierges and doormen. Nicest lot were the maids and bellman. Location is convenient, metros and taxis are close, but didn't really like the neighborhood. Value was fair for the location and quality. Sleep quality was great! Beds are very comfortable, and heard very little street noise. They have 2 doors between your bed and the hallway - so that's very nice too. Breakfast was very good - but a little variety from day to day would be helpful..It also starts at 6:30am which is awesome if you're heading out early for a tour or a meeting. Internet/wireless was absolutely the WORSE. Nothing would down load. If Marriott management steps up here and motivates/trains their employees better I think they'd have a great hotel - but until that happens I's choose a different hotel in Paris.

Room Tip: Stay on a high floor if possible as the road is relatively busy.

Dear KathyI,

Thank you for choosing Paris Marriott Opera Ambassador for your last stay in Paris. Your comments have been shared with our staff so that our guests may feel our friendly atmosphere when they come to visit us. I apologize for the confusion which occurred upon your arrival. In fact, we do not have rooms with two queen size beds so our front office got confused with your exact preferences. I’m delighted you had a great time in Paris and enjoyed our location!
Looking forward to welcome you again.

Best Regards,

Aurélie Conton

Full disclosure: we used Marriott points to pay for a sizable portion of our stay here, so didn't pay the full price. If we had needed to pay the full price, there are other Parisian hotels that would've better served us -- especially since this one is "centrally" located, but in the middle of what feels like Paris' version of the Financial District (you have to leave it to go to all the places you really want to go).

The rooms are lovely and well-appointed but on the small side, the staff is very helpful (and speaks perfect English, to the relief of many people we saw or met there), and the whole experience is worth the money we paid for it -- but not THAT much more. If you can get a deal, stay here! Have points? Stay here! If not? Consider looking elsewhere.
