Being an Marriott Elite member, we were upgraded to a slightly larger room on the sixth floor with a view of Haussman Blvd.

Perks...

Terrific room, better than average size, extremely comfortable king size bed. Marble bathroom that is huge. A/C worked perfectly, even had to turn the thermostat up a bit because it was a little chilly. Service impeccable as room was spotless each day with supplies and towels replenished. Three blocks from Gallerie Lafayette, a huge shopping complex with everything you could find from trendy pricey shops that most of us can't afford to Top Shop, Urban Outfitters and H&M.

Two or three blocks from the major Metro subway lines. Five blocks from the Garnier Opera house and area. The location is superb with many cafes and bistros all around.

Quirks...

Right off the bat, they count the ground floor as zero, then each floor up increases by one. So we had a "fifth" floor room which in the US is considered the sixth floor.

Couldn't get the light to stay on when we entered. Called the front desk and you have to put your key card in a slot receptacle behind the door and keep it there. Therefore when you leave the room all the lights and the TV turn off. Nifty idea but someone could have told us when we checked in.

Bathtub is deep and narrow. Water pressure so-so with a handheld sprayer and a half glass shower wall that creates a bath on the bathroom floor. Because its so narrow its difficult to maneuver in the shower. Getting out is difficult because the tub is so deep. And the marble floor is treacherous because of the water on the floor. Need to add the typical Marriott curved shower rod and curtain.

Breakfast is included for elite members but it's hardly worth it. My wife likes just a croissant and coffee, but I prefer a full breakfast. Eggs are awful (powdered?), bacon is disgustingly limp and the offerings are the same each and every day. Coffee is dispensed from a machine with 8 different selections. Overall, the reason this review is four stars is the quality of the breakfast. I finally resorted to cold boxed cereal. Service was fine, just the actual breakfast was substandard.

Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and would return here again.

The rooms are nicely decorated and un good size for Paris. Location is excellent for shopping in the area near Opera and Gallery Lafayette. Nice lobby with free wifi. We had connecting rooms on 6th floor, it was very good.

Several of us were running in the Paris marathon and stayed here, a very classic and sumptuously styled hotel close to the Place de L'Opera. Metros are all around and we walked in 15 mins or so to the marathon start on Champs Elysee. Sitting down in the lobby having a drink is restful and relaxing especially if you like tasteful, old fashioned couches and decor. The lifts are brilliant and charming. Breakfast is expensive at 25 euro and even before a marathon probably not worth it.

I left my keys in a drawer and they sent them on to me after initially not being able to find them. Staff are friendly.

I think our firm got us a deal on the price, we found it good value and overall I would recommend this hotel.
