“Small hotel with good location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2013

This hotel is next to Lafayette and close to metro stop Chaussée d'Antin. Convenient if you need to be in the centre of Paris for shopping or work. It has a few places to eat around but would suggest walking a bit more and going on the Boulevard des Italiens for more options.

The hotel itself is small and a bit outdated. Wouldn't recommend it for a long stay. Their internet connection is very good. The staffs at reception are very helpful thou. I received free newspapers and bus ticket on one occasion.Would say it's a bit overpriced for what it is but i guess anywhere with that location would be expensive.

There's a supermarket right next to the hotel that's opened till very late from where you can get salads, snacks, toiletries etc.

Stayed here for 1 night on a Sunday, very good location next to Galleries Lafayette and a 5 minutes walk to catch the Roissy CDG Airport bus.
Building was a little old but was surely clean. Friendly staff that spoke English. A little overpriced.

Room Tip: Stayed on the second floor, room was noisy even on a Sunday, would recommend higher floors

We stayed in Paris over New Years Eve 2013 and needed a room to accommodate 3 adults. Hotel Excelsior Opera was a good price and really close to the Paris Metro, Galleries Lafayette, shopping and several restaurants. We stayed on the fourth floor and had a nice view from out little balcony. The room was quite small but comfortable and the bathroom was clean and modern. The staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast in the morning was sufficient. I think that the location was the best thing, being close to the Metro, we could basically go most places in Paris in about 20 minutes. There was some noise from the street, even from the fourth floor. There is a small restaurant right at the bottom and a supermarket style shop just a few doors down which we got daily provisions from for lunches etc. Good if you want to save money for other Parisian delights! Overall, would stay again, but would recommend two rooms for three people rather than one.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor with a balcony and you can get a nice street view towards the Eiffe...

I spent one night at Hotel Excelsior Opera. The location is very central, but also noisy and a little lacking in charm. The metro is so close that the building shakes when it passes (which is almost all the time). I was on the third floor, and the noise wasn't as bad. Everything was clean, but some finishes are getting a little bit worn.

My room was small, but had lots of convenient amenities, including decent closet space, a safe, a retractable clothes line, a kettle, and a tray with coffee, tea, and snacks. The mattress was fairly uncomfortable, with squeaky springs and not much support.

The breakfast was acceptable, and included pastries, coffee, and orange juice, but also yogurt, meat, cheese, and even a few hot items.

The front desk staff were very kind and helpful throughout my stay.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less metro noise.

A bolt hole for a sporting weekend trip with friends.Reasonable standard hotel for price. Close to shopping, Opera and Metro; maybe a little too close to Metro as noise heard in 3rd floor bed room until after midnight and from early in morning. Not much good if light sleeper. On one occassion thought the train was in room with me.Rooms clean although a little on small size.. Breakfast acceptable although staff did not seem to be proactive in replenishing as stock diminished. In general staff were good.

Room Tip: Try and avoid Metro noise although may be difficult.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 December 2012

This hotel can't be beat for location. Transportation: from the airport or the North train station and within the city, is very close by. Shopping: Galleries Lafayette and Au Printemps are half a block from the hotel entrance. Lots of restaurants around.
Elevator: either two people or one person and a suitcase
Room: superior double was very comfortable for one person, maybe a bit cozy for two, but the bed is comfortable, the room clean and the cupboard had space enough. Bathroom contained all it needed, but definitely single use only. Tea and coffee facilities in the room, they even provide cookies.
The staff was very kind and helpful.
I will be back.
