“Nice location”
Reviewed 26 March 2013 via mobile

Love the location. Close to Moulin Rouge and short walk to Sacre Coeur and metro. Building is not old, rather classic Paris. Think this is also the street Van Gogh lived on to give an idea of the time it was built. Bathroom was clean. I know people on here complain about breakfast but I loved it. I filled up on the croissants!

For the price this was an excellent hotel. Breakfast was delicious. Soft croissants both plain and chocolate. Yogurt. Basic cereal. Crispy bread rolls and cheese. Toast, juice and tea or coffee. Rooms were a tad warm. Location and service could not be faulted. 1 hour free Internet and then 2€ for 10 hours. We stayed 10 hours. It was a bit noisy at night, but that was from outside and hey if you are staying in the red light night district, you can't expect total quietness anywhere. Staff were extremely helpful with answering any questions.

Room Tip: It is the red light district so I think if there is noise outside it would travel to most rooms.

We stayed in Hotel Victor Masse for four nights from February 25th until March 1st. The hotel was about 150 meters away from Pigalle metro station so access to hotel via public transport was easy. We felt safe but we paid attention not to get back to hotel too late. There were supermarkets like Carrefour and cafes nearby. It was a lively neighbourhood. The room was small like most budget hotels in the center of Paris but the bathroom was spacious and clean. Housekeeping service was provided every day. The breakfast was included in the hotel price. It was not a diversified one but it was ok just for a few days. We recommend asking for rooms at higher floors to avoid noise from outside. We were not distracted from noise but it would have been a problem if we stayed in the lower floors. I recommend this hotel for travellers who are looking for budget hotels near the city center.

Staying in this property during our trip to Paris for 5 nights. Our room (304) was simple and a little noisy because of the street (Victor Masse). It was nice but a little dusty if you are checking for dust. Very nice people working at the front desk willing to help. Very poor breakfast but it is included in the price (uncommon for hotels in Paris). It is 300 mt from Pigalle metro station. From there you can reach anything in Paris. Walking distance from Moulin rouge. It is a descent hotel in a nice neighborhood with many restaurants in a distance not more than 300 mt. I can recommend it for it's price and position.

Room Tip: Try to get a room in the front allthough there is a little noise

After reading reviews about the winding Parisian staircase and the elevator not working I was a bit concerned as this was towards the end of our trip and we had a lot of bags ... However the lift worked fine, but seriously this thing has a 225kg capacity and two people + 4 bags weighs more than that so be careful and make two trips.

When we arrived there was a mixup with our booking and we'd been put in a twin room, when I spoke to the reception about this the lovely French man said he could put us in a double room but wanted to make sure we knew there was more space in the twin room in case we wanted a larger sized room. Our room was not street facing, it over-looked a courtyard surrounded by apartments. It was lovely. The decor of the room was shabby and the bathroom very pokey and dated but it did the job. House-keeping was regular and friendly, room spacious enough. Radiator heating which worked very quickly. Walls are fairly thin but it wasn't overly busy when we stayed so nosie from other guests not an issue.

Staff were very friendly and helpful with sight seeing ideas and maps etc. gave us good suggestions. While it is located close to the red light district, I felt safer walking around these streets than I did near the Sacre Couer. Very close to metro stations, restaurants and Moulin Rouge.

Breakfast was good, fresh coffee and bread/pastries. This hotel has a nice feel to it. We were on the 5th or 6th floor, can't remember which.

Stayed here for 4 nights together with my partner. We had stayed in some cheaper hostel style hotels during our 2month Europe trip and this was a cozy upgrade for us. We liked our clean room and there was an elevator and the people in the reception staff was polite. Breakfast was good too though the breakfast area was small and one time full so we had to wait to get a table. This was in October so It might be even more crowded during the summer months. It was located close to a metro station which was convenient and a easy way to reach alot of places like the eiffel tower that was a bit of a walk away. You can find alot of nice restaurants close by and the red light district is really close too but we still felt safe walking in that area. Also a decent price for what you get.

Place du Tertre is a square 15min walk away and a great place to get a painting of you and your loved ones. We had a really hard time finding a place and looked alot by the canal, when I finally heard about this square after alot of research we were both so happy. Lots of artists, both good and bad, so have a good walk around and look at their work. We payed 80 euros for our huge couple picture that took him over an hour to make and turned out good. We got offered for less but their paintings didn't look as good.

On the day of departure we had the hotel order us a taxi. When we got in the car the metre was already on 9 euros!! We were upset. He explained he had a pickup fee, plus start the metre when he leaves to get us and also charges extra because we have luggage(that we by the way put in the car ourself) When he droped us at the trainstation we payed 18dollars. This was dubble what we would have payed if we went up to the road to catch a cab instead of pre-ordering one. That might be worth having in mind when you need a cab. But the reception did a good job, we told him several hours before that we needed a cab for that exact time and he organised it just like we asked him to.

I would stay at this place again.

Were there for just 2 days and I enjoyed, very close to the metro so it is easy to move on to explore the city, walking distance to places like the Opera and Hard Rock Cafe *to buy souvenirs* and supermarket Carrefour. The area is close to the Red Light District but as a solo traveler I didn't minded at all, also walked by at night and saw families with kids walking there so cant be so bad. The hotel itself is small but very convenient because of the metro and free breakfast also seems new I think that they refurbished the place and that is a plus in Paris my previous time I paid about the same for an old and tear room so it is not expensive at all(about 100 USD). On my last day I had a night flight and they stored my luggage free of charge so that was an extra
