If swinging cats is your thing then this hotel may not be for you. However, we booked our hotel to wash and sleep in so although the room was very small it was adequate for our 2 night stay.

More importantly the hotel is very clean, service fast and friendly and for the money the hotel is good value. Ideally situated in the Montparnasse area and close to two Metro stations, access to the rest of Paris is straightforward.

Breakfast service was good also, some have complained about the choice but given the price I'd say there is little to complain about. .

The walls are a little thin and any noise from hair dryers, slamming doors or loud conversation from other rooms might disturb some.

I've stayed in much worse places whilst working in Paris 3 years ago and purely on the basis of value I'd say that this hotel is worth recommending.

Room Tip: Try asking for a larger room, not sure but thy may exist. Rooms not on the street side will be quieter too

First time in Paris with my wife for her birthday so I wanted somewhere not to far from the attractions but not to expensive & this fitted the bill.
The hotel is very close to a few Metro stations and within walking distance of quite a few of the main attractions of Paris.
The hotel is basic but clean & comfortable. The breakfast is very much a continental breakfast i.e.yogurt, cheeses, pastries etc. The staff were very friendly & helpful and there is a easy to use safe in the wardrobe.
The downsides, the traffic on the main road that our room was facing onto was very noisy at times. The wi-fi is very iffy dropping in and out with regular frustration. The cleaning twice came in the room despite the do not disturb sign being on the door. They do a good job but are a bit to over eager.
Would I reccomended this hotel ? Yes I would.

Room Tip: Try and get one that doesn't overlook the main road in front of the hotel.

This is my 4th time at Transcontinental, and still pleased to be there.
Well located in Paris 14 th arrondissement, very close to Montparnasse shopping restaurants and cinemas, near the typical rue de la Gaité and it's lot of theaters, this is à good bet for discovering Paris.
The HOTEL by itself is nit luxury, but at a good standard for the price paid, compaired with others in the capital city .
Well maintained and secure.
Rooms on the backyard are more quiet, because of trafic noise on the avenue.
good continental breakfast included
I recommand

Room Tip: Good value for Paris.

Walking distance from metro, shopping streets, cafés and restaurants (Asian, Italian,...) and Montparnasse cemetary.

Small room with tiny bed and tiny bathroom, so not OK for long stay. The room was clean and quiet (double glass windows) even on the busy street side.

Breakfast was OK.

We chose Transcontinental Hotel mainly for its proximity to Gare Montparnasse. We found the room clean and quiet. The staff was helpful and the breakfast was fine and included in the price of the hotel. Also Free Wi-Fi. It is close to Metros and also it is easy to walk from there to all the attractions of Paris. The neighbor was interesting and we found some nice little cafes for dinner close by. We stayed in 2 other small hotels in Paris this trip and this one surpassed both for value and service.

Room Tip: A room at the back of the hotel ( not facing Rue du Maine) is quieter.
