“Nice find”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014

Good little hotel. Just refurbished, rooms not massive but large enough. Nice staff. Quiet and good working aircon. Good beds. What more do you want?
As previous reviewers commented there are some homeless people sleeping in the area, but they were harmless. The area is excellent for having a haircut. The small street where this hotel is located has no less than six hair salons. Spoilt for choice.

We've just returned from spending three nights in Paris. Our original plan was to rent an apartment but we arrived to discover it had been burgled!
Thank goodness for Tripadvisor. I opened the app on my phone and discovered the Best Western Faubourg close by and it didn't have bad reviews. We were desperate so we went along.
The reason we didn't originally book a hotel is that I've heard such nightmares about Paris hotel rooms but the Best Western was lovely. We got a good rate and a very nice room even though we just walked in off the street. The staff were all very friendly and the room was actually quite big - I know in Paris there are small ones.
The hotel had recently been refurbished so it was clean and looked good. The bathroom was tiny but there was a Nespresso machine and tea as well as a bottle of water on our arrival. There was even an iPod dock which was a nice touch. The best part about the hotel was the air conditioning though. Temperatures were approaching 30 degrees that weekend and it was a god send.
The hotel isn't situated in the best of areas as others have mentioned - there are a lot of homeless around but at no point did we feel unsafe. The Strasbourg Saint Denis Metro station is about a minute's walk away and there is a lovely park with fountains close by if you just want to chill. I actually preferred this area to one with lots of tourist tat - you got the impression you were seeing the real Paris.
A footnote on Paris - they say Parisiennes can be very rude but we didn't find this once. Even when we were looking at maps in the Metro station people would come up and ask if we needed help. Everyone was lovely.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 48 which doesn't have a view but it was high away from noise and traffic and q...

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. Eventhough it is a half rough neighborhood, we enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this hotel. You are close to two metro stations which can take you to where ever you want in Paris. You are close to a Lidl if you want to grab something on the way to eat. The rooms are quite small but I'm not the kind of person that sticks around at the hotel all day long. they have AC. I mostly use it when I need to sleep. The hotel isn't lokated directly by the street but in an alley so you wont hear that much of the trafic. Didn't eat breakfast at the hotel so I can't say anything about it.

Room Tip: We had an executive room. I guess they aren't quite as small as the otherones. We also had a bat...

The hotel served its purpose as a good base for exploring Paris. The service was fine. Only negatives were the room being very small and the district was a bit seedy but tell me a major city that doesn't have those areas. Bottom line is that I would probably go back.

The good thing about this hotel is it's location, which is in walking distance from the Gare de L'Est.

The area itself could be considered somewhat rough whith men from Africa standing all day long on the streets and at night with some homeless people sleeping under some shelters and ladies offering their service.
Very important: We never felt intimidated, we never got harrassed and my 70 year old mother didn't even take notice by all this. So it is more a mental thing of somebody itself.

We enjoyed the hotel itself. The rooms are tiny and some intercontinental travellers might have problems in keeping two pieces of luggage in the room and still being able to walk to the bathroom. But the room itself and the bathroom are well equipped with heated mirror, Flat TV, nice warm shower and the BEST: A Nespresso coffee machine in each room.

The breakfast is a fair deal compared to what you get out in the streets. The breakfast is been served downstairs in the former basement of the house - we liked the athmosphere there.

The hotel staff is very helpfull and friendly. We asked them to do some phonecalls for us and they did help us in any matter. Nevertheless it is a small 3* hotel, and only one person is sitting at the front desk so they cannot leave it to carry your luggage to the tiny room.

We recommend this hotel. It seemed to us, that there is a difference between service on holidays and on weekdays. Sounds silly but we stayed 4 nights and observed difference in service quality regarding breakfast and room cleanup. This might explain some poor experiences by other travellers.

Do not let the surrounding intimidade you! It is the Paris of nowadays.
From our experience we recommend this place.

Room Tip: We stayed in the 4th floor and it was ok. Tiny rooms. Make sure the ascensor works!

Hotel is good value for money. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. Staff are friendly. My only criticism is the neighbourhood is a bit undesirable but we had a lovely stay. Would go back again. Very close to Metro so easy to get around.

Small, but perfectly formed. Within walking distance of the Gard Du Nord, and the Seine or the Pompidou Centre, this hotel is well positioned. Some may find its environs seedy, and it is certainly more colourful than some more central areas, but we didn't find it threatening. The hotel itself, tucked down a side street, is small, as are the rooms. Our room was comfortable, and decorated with inventive flair- a welcome change from the often tired nouveau baroque Paris offerings. The bathroom was tiny, but had everything we needed. Reception staff were helpful and professional. As breakfast was not included we joined the commuters in a little cafe round the corner, having taken advantage of the nespresso machine in our room first. Perfect for a no fuss, comfortable, good value stay in Paris.

Dear guest,

Thank you for all the team for this lovely comment. Your opinion is very important for us. Concerning the area it’s cosmopolitan and like a village with all the little shop. Next time you could try the breakfast room in the basement it’s help to start a good day  !
We hope we will see you again.
Best regards
