Arrived at 10:30 am, was told 2:00 pm room key would be available. Noticed at 1:00 pm new arrivals to the hotel were given keys. At 1:45 pm asked for key and received. Check in system not consistent. Many of us waiting for hours in lobby for keys.

We've have spent one night in this hotel in July 2014. It is very close to ''everything'' and Eiffel Tour is just at 2 minutes of walking. Rooms are clean and well designed. The people from the staff were at their best, very attentive and ready to serve us! A lovely stay, we would comeback there anytime!

We discovered, when it came to booking accommodation in Paris, that rooms are generally small and expensive for what you get.

For our stay at the Mercure Paris Centre Tour Eiffel in mid July 2014, we parted company with €915 for 4 nights. Which are equivalent to Manhattan prices. What we got in return was a very average room. While close to the Eiffel Tower, this was where the big positives started and finished.

As expected, the room was small and this was made more-so by a separate toilet and bathroom – why they were not combined as is fairly standard in hotels was beyond us. The toilet room, particularly, was akin to a tiny jail cell. The toilet also, unfortunately had flushing issues – and a smell, which we brought to the attention of front desk staff more than twice with no noticeable improvement.

For the money we paid, we seriously expected better!

The room provided a strictly-adequate base for our Parisian activities - but nothing more and left me to seriously regret not looking harder and broader at alternative accommodation when I booked in March.

Room Tip: Be wary of toilet facilities here - ours did not flush properly and had a smell which never got fixe...

The hotel is about a 5 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower. We stayed during Winter for 3 nights and Paris was full of snow, it truly was an amazing experience. The hotel itself in the Lobby had a very strange overpowering smell of cooked fish, but you would get over this once you got into the elevators. We upgraded our room to the highest floor with views of the Eiffel Tower and I would highly recommend paying the extra to get this.

I would definitely return to this hotel the next time I am in Paris.

Room Tip: HIgh Floor, of course facing the Eiffel Tower

We found the Mercure Paris Centre to be a very nice hotel, with clean, efficient rooms and good staff service. Location is excellent as we were a short walk from Tour Eiffel. We watched the fireworks on July 14th from the street in front of the hotel. Some rooms actually have a view of the tower, but they were gone before we made reservations.

Room Tip: Book early to get a room with a view of the Tour Eiffel.
