“Good Enough”
Reviewed 9 January 2014

I stayed at the hotel during new years and requested a top level floor and a view of the Eiffel Tower. The hotel did accommodate this for us. The location was great at 20 minutes walk from the Eiffel Tower. The hotel has good night staff in Gaspar which almost by himself helped us navigate Paris, France. The staff does speak english and Gaspar was one I could speak with while having a cig late night to discuss plans for the next day. The room wasn't the cleanest but we are neat freaks. The upstairs balcony is in a word breathtaking. There was a new years party that was quite crowded but still enjoyable. I give it a thumbs up....for a great time in paris......side note try the pastry shop a walk up the street and use the weekly pass on the metro which is up the street as well.

Room Tip: Request top level floor and view of Eiffel Tower. Also hotel takes money of your card instantly whe...

Overall I loved it for the location and how staffs were very co-operative and wonderful. Two complains I have is the air-conditioning. We were there in May and it was hot. Place was hot and humid lack of Air-Conditioning. And secondly entrance has no handicapped access ..or not enough space between the door and street, plus the lobby is not street level, so it was very hard loading and unloading.

I stayed here with my partner for my 21st birthday for 3 nights in November. The hotel was booked through secret hotels, and we got a fairly good deal, slightly more expensive than others in the area but in my opinion well worth it!

The hotels location is brilliant, if you are new to Paris then I would advise googling the metro system map, the nearest metro stop is vaugirad literally a 2 min walk away on the same street (you can see the stop from the hotel entrance!) you will then be able to visually see how accessible this hotel is to all the major landmarks.

We used the metro to get around everywhere in Paris, and paid approx €21 for a 3 day pass. The system is very much like the London tube, very easy to use and gets you close to all the site seeing spots!!

The cleanliness was great, nothing to complain about there. Towels were changed and the room was also refreshed everyday.

The size of the room was suprising, being Paris and reading lots of reveiws about how the hotel rooms are much smaller than elsewhere I was really pleased with how big our room was!

Staff were extremely helpful and were ableto assist us in planning trips out and giving advice with regards to the metro.

We handnt pre paid for breakfast as this wasn't an option through the website in which we booked. However for ease we decided to eat breakfast at the hotel. This cost €16 per person per day, which is expensive by English standards! Yet when we looked at other places €16 worked out much better as you could have unlimited drinks and food, so you easily got your monies worth in comparison to the cafe opposite who were charging €9 for a croissant, coffee, orange juice and price of fruit!! The breakfast was yummy too with lots of variety :)

Overall I was extremely pleased with our stay here and would deffinatly recommend, if I was to return to Paris I would look at staying here again too if I could get the same deal!

We stayed here from 18 Dec to 20 Dec 2013. Checking out on 21 dec. We had a triple room. The room was a bit cramped. The third bed was a pull out couch. I suppose the room would have been adequate for 2 people. The toilet was very cramped and seperate from the bathroom and is without a wash basin. The bathroom itself was very good. We stayed in room no 637. I am not sure what the other rooms are like. The hotel provides a kettle with complementary coffee and tea. The buffet breakfast is excellent. Free wifi is provided. The staff are very polite and helpful. Overall the hotel is clean and comfortable and we had a good stay.

Our mission, your satisfaction (at Novotel, your satisfaction is our top priority) - that's what the sign says. The reality is something different.

It should read: If you complain, enough and to the right person you will get your problem sorted, eventually - if you speak to the top person.

Did we use the 24/24 action line? You bet we did - from the evening of our arrival on...did it work? No it didn't!

Roughly translated this 24/24 promise meant it took 24 hours to put right.

I can't recommend this hotel as things stand - but it has such promise.

If you must stay here: stipulate you want a quiet room with a comfortable bed that does not squeak. This hotel's beds are ten years old. We had a terrible bed that was extremely uncomfortable and made one hell of a racket. We were cold too - and the hotel was unable to find a blanket for us...even though the hotel was not full. Only when I insisted and said I wanted to speak to the duty manager the following morning did the hotel manage to magic up something for us.

Ask for a room at the back.

The double beds are approx. 5 feet wide - when they don't squeak and are comfortable they're fine.

The twin rooms have extra size single beds but appear to be on the street side and there are few of them (it appears).

Don't book a street side room and be wary of the twin rooms (warmth, tiredness etc)

The staff are extremely nice and try to be helpful but....they are not problem solvers and I would have to point out the Novotel 24/24 quality line you are invited to call if there is a glitch is only as good as the person answering it. If you have a problem, don't bother calling this line, ask to speak to the hotel director straight away - this will save you a great deal of trouble.

We had a problem which was only resolved when I spoke to the director - and only put right at 6pm on the second night of our stay (we did not get a wink of sleep the night before). It was a succession of calamities we had to put up with before that. It ruined our stay in Paris as we felt like zombies.

It's clear there are problems in terms of proactivity, communications and getting things done in this hotel - which I made quite clear in my complaints on the first day - through to the duty manager first thing on the second, to two other managers during the day and finally, when I managed to get through to the director late in the afternoon.

Action was only taken when I elevated my complaints - and then the action was minimal and ineffective. Once the director was involved, the problem was finally - but not without difficulty - sorted out.

I did not want to complain. All I wanted was a quiet room with a comfortable bed. I would have preferred to have been praising this hotel to the sky - but I did not have the opportunity to do this.

I should point out, in the 10 days prior to staying at this hotel I stayed in a Mercure and an Adaggio (same group, different categories of comfort) and these two were faultless.

Yes, action was taken in the end - but it was a long and tiresome struggle. No hotel guests should be put through this. Yes the director sorted the problem out and compensated us. But it was a dreadful experience.

We had a miserable, exhausting and terrible time because Novotel was unable to get the basics right. It ruined the stay in Paris.

Who wants to complain (again and again and again and again)? Had we not been so tired after the first night we would have gone somewhere else.

And all we wanted was a quiet comfortable room! We didn't want a sleepless night and have to complain for hours and hours to have things put right.

This is such a shame - and the staff are really very nice and terribly kind but hopeless - really, really hopeless and ineffectual.....they do not understand the guest experience, they don't.

I found this whole experience insulting.

I had to point out to the director (and to every colleague and there were so many of them along the way) that she/they would have been insulted and furious had they come to stay with me and I had given her/them a cold room, insisted there was no blanket she/they could have, given her/them and uncomfortable and noisy bed.

Novotel should take note: take care of your guests; don't make them complain again and again and again so they have to insist on escalating the complaint to get some action (and then, again and again.....)

My colleague and I have worked in hotels, we understand what hard work it is and how guests can be extremely difficult over very minor things. So it is with great sadness that I have to write this review - and with fury given our stay in Paris was spoiled by it. It is only fair that other travellers are warned.

This is a four star hotel in the world's capital of hospitality - and it was a disgrace.

There appear to be managerial, communications and training issues at this hotel that should be dealt with immediately - and the hotel needs decent beds, mattresses - and enough blankets.

It was not like this at the Mercure, it was not like this at the Adaggio - both were really excellent.

Room Tip: Email the director in advance and insist on a quiet room with a comfortable bed that doesn't mak...

I went to Paris for 3 nights with my boyfriend and we stayed at this hotel.
We got a good deal booking eurostar and this hotel together.
It was nice and clean, the staff friendly and had good transport links to the city centre.
In the evening there is a bar on the top with a roof terrace with views over Paris including the Eiffel tower.
I can highly recoomend staying here.
The only downside are the breakfast and other food prices, so we always went out to eat somewhere else.
