“Bag stolen from room!”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

Hotel was under renovation what would not have been a big topic if we would have been informed. So we paid the full price, couldn't use the bar/Restaurant and everything else than the room. Everything was dirty, elevators occupied by workers.
Then the bed was very unconfortable and if that's not all a whole Shopping bag with clothes was stolen from my room!!!!

Dear J.M

First of all and, on behalf of myself and all the staff at the hotel, I would like to thank you for choosing our Meliá Paris Royal Alma for your stay in France, as well as taking the time to send your opinion.

We are very concerned about this incident and we deeply regret for it. As you can imagine, this kind of incidents are not usual in a hotel like ours.

We do our best to safeguard the security of our customers and their belongings, having all mandatory security measures and regulations. Our hotel is secured by monitoring elements for the control and prevention of such events: surveillance cameras, presence controls and safety checks.

We focus our efforts to ensure that our customers are protected within our facilities and especially in their rooms. That is why we provide (free of charge) safety deposit boxes in rooms to keep your valuables items inside.

Concerning the point about the renovation I would like to inform you that, due circumstances beyond our control, we suffered a delay on the works renovations. Please be aware that any renovation is always carried out with the only intention of improving our quality services as well as the Hotel facilities.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and hope we can depend on your continuing trust in our commitment to providing an outstanding service.

Overall, the guest’s satisfaction is our main objective, it will be a great pleasure if you would give us a new opportunity to change your impression about our hotel and discover the New Melia París Royal Alma.

Do not hesitate to contact me personally if you decide to make a new reservation. I will be more than glad to ensure you a delightful stay.

Yours Sincerely,

I recently stayed at the Royal Alma in Paris and while I think I just had a bad experience, the hotel was not worth what we paid for it.

We arrived late in the evening and the person on reception at night was really helpful and pleasant. He was probably the only positive experience we had with the hotel.

As for the negatives:

- Room was very small and although the description says it's a king bed it looked more like a double or queen bed.
- Main problem was that the room had no do not disturb sign and despite asking reception twice for one it was only put on our door the morning when we were leaving. We had a long trip to Paris and wanted to get some rest but were woken up 3 times from various knocks at the door from housekeeping. This is something basic and reception just didn't deal with it quick enough.
- In our 2 nights our room was never cleaned as we asked housekeeping to come back as we were sleeping when they knocked. When heading out for sightseeing at 12pm we asked reception to get housekeeping to clean the room. Despite being assured that this would be done while we were out, this was not done.
- The hotel was going through renovations during our stay, had I known this I would not have booked. It seemed to really affect the service in the hotel and we could hear banging and drilling from 8am which meant we couldn't sleep properly.
- Finally having paid extra for breakfast as according to the hotel's website "Meliá Royal Alma is famous for its wonderful international breakfast buffet with French and Spanish specialities". What we were presented with was what you would expect in a 3* hotel. It was the standard continental breakfast supplemented with scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages. As we didn't eat meat we just had eggs and croissants. Hardly a wonderful international buffet. I assume this was because of the renovations taking place but this should be made clear when booking that they will be providing a sub standard service.

The location of the hotel is really good, right next to the eiffel tower, but apart from this it was a pretty unpleasant stay.

I would certainly not return to this hotel and it was very overpriced for the experience we had.

Stayed twice in the span of two weeks. The hotel is in a great location, close to attractions and walking distance to good bistros, on top in a side street that does not have much traffic, thus very quiet at night. However, you might stil want an interior room.
Rooms vary in comfort, the first stay I felt a bit cramped (6th floor), second stay, the room was quite bigger and comfortable (5th floor). Hotel started renovations about the time I was leavig in the second stay and hopefuly they would make rooms a big bigger and functional.
That said, being Paris, why would say in the room for anything other than sleep?

Location is also super convenient, near to a metro station (2 blocks) and a RER station (across the Pont d'Alma) from where you can get to about anywhere in the city. As well, 1-2 blocks to city buses for short rides to where you might want to go.

Now, the staff is second to none, from the front desk to the kitchen staff, to the bellboys; I could not praise them enough; they were all extremely helpful, and I would have to note that they were same even with some tourists that wander into the front desk (that were not staying in).
Now, I was on business, and my office is just across the bridge (Pont d'Alma), so it made it for a nice 10 min walk; and I'd have to complain of only one issue: the wireless. It's terrible. The signal was quite weak and on top, not enough bandwidth, specially if the hotel is full. At times, I'd get to the lobby to get a better signal and be able to actually connect. I noted this to one of the staff in the front desk and he mentioned it's going to be fixed together with the renovations the hotel were undergoing. Hope so, because I'm going to be back every time I need to get to my office in Paris.
Special appreciation to the staff member who was very attentive (sorry I didn't catch his name) and every day would ask me if I needed a taxi or anything.

Now, onto price: given the location and ammenities, the price is quite in line to what I was expecting. This is not a place for the frugal or budget tourist however (to which I'd recommend the area about Gare du Nord). It would be a nice place for a couple that want a romantic setting (and area) without breaking the bank.

Room Tip: Interior room is quieter. As with other European hotels, don't bring huge luggage pieces. FInal...

Green Features: As I recall, you can choose to have the linen/towels not to be changed during your stay, except when you would like. As in most European hotels, the windows open! No need for AC, if you want so.

A wonderful "boutique" hotel, located in a convenient location near Pont Alma, the Seine, the Eiffel Tower and many other local attractions. Great for walking, shopping and eating. The staff provided excellent service with a superb attitude and the accommodations were far and above many hotels I have stayed.

This is a great location near Eiffel Tower & Champs Elyysees, Arc de Triomphe.

It was also unexpectedly close to a Carrefour urban grocery.

The staff was friendly, knowledgeable.

The hotel was very clean.

The rooms & beds were comfortable, with great linens.

Love seat & expected furniture in room made it easy to relax.

Room Tip: Small elevators, lovely stairs made easy, fast access to rooms without suitcases.

Really nice boutique hotel. Close to the Eiffel Tower, Champs Elysees and the metro. Some great bistros nearby. Rooms were a nice size but the decor is a bit worn and dated. The service of the staff more than makes up for the dated decor. Our first room smelled of cigarette smoke and we were quickly given a new room. The buffet breakfast is very nice and we enjoyed eating on the hotel's back terrace.

This boutique hotel is absolutely gorgeous from the location through to the décor. We had an amazing time in Paris with the hotel being in an ideal location to the Champs Elysees, the Metro and fabulous restaurants and cafes. Being in the middle of winter coming into Christmas the decorations for the season also gave it that little bit of extra magic. We will be back. Fabulous!!
