“Good location, poor housekeeping”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 August 2014

The hotel is a small 3 star...it has a nice reception area with a large curved TV...our double room was very very small...so small we didnt even have anywhere to put our cases ..the bathroom was equally tiny but very clean although the toilet seat was broken. We had a room on the 6th floor with a small balcony that you could see the Eiffel Tower to the right...full view. The sheets were straigtened every day but not changed for all 3 nights we were there as the sheet on day one had a black smudge mark which remained with us for the whole 4 days,....also they didnt have any pillow cases on the pillows ..the housekeeping just put the pillows under the bed sheet...but the pillows were extremely filthy with yellow sweat stains and a large blood spot...I asked reception for pillows and they said we should already have some...when I told them there were no pillow cases the chap said that maybe they have run out and if they have any will I be coming down to get them..!!!!... I politely refused and asked him to bring some up...I then proceeded to cover the filthy pillows myself...not good...very very bad...

Breakfast ...buffet affair...croissants, pain au chocolate , bread, boiled eggs (until they run out and not replenished)..juices and cereals with fresh fruit salad...not from a tin...jams butter and Nutella...
Nice breakfast lady who is friendly and polite..she will bring tea and coffee..no tea coffee facilities in the room...

I know in paris to expect small rooms but the room we had was bordering on the ridiculous...
The hotel charges 5euros single user and 8euros multi user per day for Internet access...not good ...wifi is standard in all hotels and derby needs to catch up and stop being greedy,..walls of hotel are super thin and can hear people talking clearly in other rooms...

There is a metro called ecole militaire round the corner from the hotel...only a couple of mins walk..and if coming from cdg airport just take the roissy bus to opera 10.5euros each kids free..and then hop on the metro to line 8 to ecole militaire and just take exit 3 which is an escalator exit to the street so no carrying cases....walk past the Carrefour mini supermarket turn left cross road and the hotel is just there.

We used easy pass tours for our Eiffel tour tickets ..they were great...just down the road from the hotel on the way to Eiffel Tower which is only 10 mins walk....they give skip the line tickets all the way to the top so no need to line up for summit tickets from the second floor.

I probably want stay in this hotel again just for the sake of the dirty pillows and no change sheets,,,and the size of the minuscule room.

I stayed here for 5 nights. Very convenient location. The rooms, although smaller than I am used to in the United States, were very clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly, helping out with a variety of issues. They spoke English well and we had a wonderful trip!

Excellent location. Booked a superior room. Elevator broken upon arrival. Took a 1st level room which was NOT ideal. Never heard the elevator was repaired. You need to follow up IMMEDIATELY with your reservation to get this sorted out. We were trying to be gracious and had 'expectations' they would advise and move us to our original reservation.

NOT. We were 'ripped off' and NOT happy in the least. We take responsibility for not following up, HOWEVER, we are use to having the hotel advise us immediately, respond and follow-up.

Upon check out because we didn't make a fuss, I asked for a price reduction and it was a nightmare. We were advised that the manager is not a nice person and wouldn't be a 'delight' to deal with. We had to check out before he arrived.

Left our email address and request for the 'different' in our room charge to be emailed to us.

We left on July 21...... we were advised we would hear within 24 hours.... this is now August 3.

We Are Not Impressed....

I paid a high $ for an end trip experience for us and this did not meet my expectation in the least.

Room Tip: Confirm and review ALL rooms before booking in. This experience really spoiled our travel experienc...

This hotel is 5min walk from eiffel tower,be sure when booking to email and request a room with a view of the eiffel tower! Metro is close by and lots of cafes near. Rooms in hotel are quite small but so are most rooms in paris. Would use this hotel again

POSITIVES:
-great location, just around the corner from the Eiffel tower and convenient for transport
-clean
-recently renovated
-has everything you need
-helpful reception staff
-easy to find (big sign)
-good price for location. would stay again.

IMPROVEMENT POINTS:
-give visitors free wifi, it costs close to nothing and makes people happy
-building (corridors, lift etc) and common areas could do with some modernisation
-some rooms have no view at all (it is blocked by buildings in all directions) and this should be stated at booking
-not great noise insulation between rooms

TIPS:
-"Cafe des officiers" just outside the hotel has a good cheap breakfast (9 euro), good coffee and friendly staff and stays open until late at night. also serves drinks and platters until 2-3 am.
-Take a short walk to 187 Rue de Granelle and enter pastry heaven at Les Gourmandises d'Eiffel / Boulangerie Patisserie Menardin. Best croissant ever by far.
-Skip the open-top tour bus. we had very bad experience with rude staff, heavy traffic and long wait at each stop. recommend using metro, it is cheap, fast and has good coverage of the city.
-Don't forget to visit Montmartre and Versailles.

Room Tip: If you don't pay extra for the "Eiffel tower view" room then make sure your room has s...

Booked this hotel for its Location and was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. It look so quaint, something you would expect when visiting Paris. Staff were friendly, Wi Fi is available at a reasonable cost. Continental Breakfast was included in my tariff. This hotel has a nice reception area but if you want to stow your luggage before leaving it is in the open area. The rooms are comfortable and from some rooms you would be able to see the Eifel Tower.

Our room was situated in a garden courtyard which I adored. So far removed from a typical hotel room we had 3 rooms sharing this courtyard. We had a garden setting and large windows that opened onto the courtyard. We were lucky in respect that the other two rooms were not used for a short time we were there, so sharing the courtyard wasn't an option. I enjoyed our stay here as it was so French. The hotel has tables outside on sidewalk for the smokers. It is close to the Eifel Tower a 5-10 min walk. Seine River Cruising, the Napolean Tomb /Military Museum. and the Hop on Hop Off Bus. Cafe's and Restaurants all around. Plus Bakery's and Food stores. Metro nearby.

The room we had was basic, but the bathroom was large with a bath, which was wonderful after a big day. Bed was very comfortable, Tea making facilities, Would I use this hotel again YES.

I have just returned from Paris, where I stayed at the Derby Eiffel Hotel for 4 nights. The twin room cost £104 per night (without breakfast). We were very lucky to arrive on Bastille Day, and be able to sit outside the hotel and watch the fireworks at the Eiffel Tower. The hotel is located a 2 minute walk from the Ecole Militaire metro station and its about 20/25 minutes from Gare du Nord by Metro, neither my friend nor I had been to Paris before but were able to find our way around the metros quite well.

The Hotel room was adequate, very clean, clean towels every day, there was only a small wardrobe and no drawer space, I think this is normal for Paris.

The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful.

I would certainly recommend this hotel

Room Tip: We had room 17 on the first floor which was great, as it was quiet and you didn't need to use th...
