As mentioned in other reviews the hotel has a tiny cramped breakfast room - just around tables for 29 rooms so it might mean you might not have your breakfat when desired but have to wait till other people are gone. Limited choice of food as well. Not the best start on anyone's day...
Rooms were OK and bayhrooms clean. Staff very helpful however on one occasion on our return to the hotel the door was locked and there was nobody in reception which meant we had to wait outside - it never happened to us before.
The location was great but the presence of a pub on the other side of the street and its guests did wake us up several times during our stay.

Highly recommended. Clean, tidy with neutral decor. Our twin room was fairly small - but what more do you need for a 2 night stay? Lovely views from the front windows. Friendly staff. 5 minute walk to the Notre Dame. Pantheon and Luxembourg Gardens also in short walking distance. 2 minute walk to the Cardinal Lemoine metro station - so convenient. Lovely.

Your first impression of this hotel is that it is just plain pretty. The literary motif is beautifully done with dark wood bookshelves everywhere you look, nicely complementing the architecture of the old building. But the place has issues beyond the aesthetics. The staff, for one, is well in line with the standards of French customer service. On the day and a half that we were there it seemed like the front desk was manned by a different person every other hour. That in itself is not the problem except for the fact that each of them seemed more annoyed than the other to be there in the first place. The room was nice and clean but a bit cramped because it was obviously a double converted into a triple. But the tiny breakfast room was so crowded on the morning we were there that some people opted to eat on the staircase. And having so many people waiting around for tables made us so uncomfortable, we felt forced to rush through our small meal. The food choices were typical continental. On the day of our departure, my wife had to use the lobby bathroom, only to get locked in because the door was broken. You could say the excellent location could make up for some of the downsides but overall this was a spotty experience ... not awful but just not good enough to rate it higher than average.

Caveat: I was in Paris for 2 weeks and stayed in this hotel the 2nd week after a quite shabby hotel near the Opera.

I enjoyed my stay. The staff was decent. Housekeeping was efficient. The breakfast area was fine although small in choices. My room on the 2nd floor was good, the bed was very nice (maybe even new), although the ceiling in the bathroom had some peeling. They provided good soaps, shampoos, plenty of towels and the shower worked great!!! (a big improvement over previous week). Plus, the free wireless worked well with decent speeds.

This hotel is situated in the lovely left bank and is close to a couple of metro stations. It is down a quiet part of the Rue Des Ecoles but Odeon, Pantheon and Notre Dame are well within walking distance. It has a smart reception but the room wasn't of the same standard. It was small and the decor was clean but basic, dull and a bit tired looking. The bathroom's art deco design was cool but the shower went scoldingly hot from time to time. I expected this based on other reviews but was surprised by how hot the water got! I got this hotel at a great price so can't complain, but if I had paid full price I would have been disappointed.
