“Convenient location”
Reviewed 9 August 2014

I was here for work and was able to bring my wife along with me, which was nice. We did not go to Paris expecting the hotel to be the highlight and it wasn't, however the location was excellent and the price was better than expected. The breakfast was average for Paris standards and excellent for US standards. The people behind the front desk were knowledgable and friendly, but there was one woman in particular who was very helpful and pleasant to speak with.

The hotel was situated right near the Opera and the Louvre and many great restaurants near by.

We had two gripes One was that they do not have a secure place to hold you luggage, although that depends on the person working behind the desk at the time. One person would put your luggage behind the desk or even use a security lock to keep all your bags together. The other person, the one who checked us in and out, asked you to keep in on the foyer which we did not feel comfortable with.

The other was that the internet connection was slow. As I was hear for work, it made it very hard to get things done online at night. So if you rely on the internet like I do for work, I would look for another hotel, but if the internet is not a concern, then this place is very good for the price and location.

Room Tip: First floor was quite and the AC worked great.

I had to book an emergency, and have not regretted. Perfectly located 10 minutes walk lo Louvre and all that close. 5 minutes to the metro station, where you and also stops the train RER, which go to Disneyland without changing. Settled immediately. Luggage storage is not, but in connection with the departure podznim offered to leave for storage bags in the corner of the hall HOTELS.Given room 602 triple with three single beds. But this is not an inconvenience, since two beds we ourselves have put together a double. Sloping roof, but the room looks spacious. I liked everything. removed cleanly. There are tea sets, which are constantly replenished.
Breakfast is not taken. Good noise reduction. Located on a quiet street, but three houses and you in the center of Paris on the Boulevard Opera. A Russian-speaking man at the front desk. Shopping is also very suitable, all nearby street. Rivolli and Gallery Lafayette and Printemps.

I am so glad I chose this hotel! It ls located on a quiet street just off Opera Avenue and once we found our way around, we walked to Louvre, Tuileries Garden, Avenue des Champs-Élysées, Opera Garnier, Place Vendome plus many shops and restaurants. Two metro stations are within minutes too. I knew the room would be tiny but was actually more concerned about the bed since only queen size was available. I must say that was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever experienced at the hotel. We stayed on the first floor and I can see how the street noise could be a bother, although we were not disturbed. The closet space was sufficient, as well as the bathroom. The water pressure in the shower was great. I am all for protecting environment but can't help enjoying it. The last but not least - reception. Wonderful, helpful, friendly...can not say enough good things about them. Not sure when I will have a chance to go back to Paris, but I will stay at BW Gaillon Opera again gladly.

Room Tip: Higher floors are probably better for avoiding street noise

I need to preface this review with the fact that we are Best Western property Managers from Australia. Please bear inn mind that all BW properties are independently owned and operated.

We had 4 nights pre booked here and in the end, due to an air traffic controllers' strike ended up staying for an additional night. Great location - 5 minutes away on foot from L'Opera. There is also a hop on, hop off bus that leaves from near L'Opera which we highly recommend. Close to the Roissy bus to CDG airport also which is the cheapest way to get there.

Be aware that the latest opening place around is the Monoprix shop - closes about 10pm. Closest place to do laundry apart from ion your hotel, is on Rosigny - about 5 euro per kilo to wash/dry/fold (lave, seche et plie) - no self serve laundromats - they are called "pressings".

Staff at Gaillon Opera were great! We had a few issues, such as all our luggage not arriving for 24 hours+, and then the strike - they were fantastic even when we re-arrived at 11pm after departing earlier that same day!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a street view - no specific beauteous thing to look at but vibrant and interesti...

It's close to many attractions like the Louvre, Place Vendome. and Opera House. You able to walk to all the above with on 5-10 minutes. The staff was friendly and helpful and if your on a budget, it's reasonable. The rooms varied as I peeked around on my way out. They are very small though seem clean. Like others said the heating and cooling would be problematic during the summer. I was alone but could not imagine traveling here with my wife or a family. I did start to look for other hotels and looking at the cost of the Hilton I toughed it out.

If your on a budget, plan to be out all days and are looking for a place to sleep. it's works. If your not a budget traveler and used to American style hotels, you'll be disappointed, find another place.

Only two good things about this hotel:
1. Location, very well situated blocks away of the opera and galerias lafayette, subway is very close too
2. Staff is very helpful and friendly
But... Rooms are too small, even for french standards, building is very old and not well maintained, air conditioned is a joke so during summer gets very hot. Bring your own amenities as those offered are terrible, or buy some shampoo in one of the great pharmacies around the corner.

Pro's- location is excellent right inbetween Louvre and Place Vendome, walking distance to everything, hotel staff are really nice
Con's- there were bugs in 2 of the 3 rooms we were in (not sure if they were bed bugs or not, we didn't get bitten)

Room Tip: if you get a room with a balcony they seemed a little bigger
